I loved hanging out with my friends but after my social bar was so low and all I wanted to do was go home and recharge.
"Did you have fun? Was the movie good?" Mrs. Peyton asked me as upstairs to the living room part of the house. She was sitting on the couch with Mr. Fitzgerald watching a movie.
I nodded my head. "Yeah. I just want to lay in bed and watch Netflix now though."
"I get that." Mr. Fitzgerald spoke.
"Goodnight second mom and dad." I told them before I walked upstairs to my room.
I threw my purse on my dresser and closed the door behind me. I just wanted this makeup off, a hot shower, and then to get in my bed.
"Hey," Cole spoke as he stood in the bathroom. "Sorry, I'm not used to locking that door."
"Oh shit, I can get out." I looked at him as he stood there in just sweatpants.
He shook his head. "Nah I'm just brushing my teeth and washing my face. Did you have fun?"
I opened up my drawer and pulled out my makeup wipes. "I did. We just went to watch a movie in the back of a theater and then to Yuri's house to eat our takeout sushi."
"Are you ever going to sit down in a restaurant again?" Cole questioned me.
I shrugged my shoulders as I wiped my face. "Maybe in a month or so, you know, when things die down a bit. I wanna post something attention-grabbing to see if I have any snitches on my social media."
"Like what?" Cole asked me.
"I have to figure that out." I decided. "Something that magazines would eat up."
"Uh-huh," he responded. "let me know what you come up with."
Cole opened up a container and popped his retainer in. Then he opened up a drawer and put glasses on.
My heart sped up a bit. "You look cute."
He scrunched up his nose. "Please."
"I'm being serious!" I said as I put my hair into a low bun. "I've seriously never seen you with glasses on and you look cute."
"Yeah, yeah. You're the cute one." Cole leaned against the wall. "Did you ever decide on a major?"
Cole and I complained about not being able to decide on a college or what we wanted to do for the rest of our lives in the middle of science.
"No." I responded. "Well, actually that's a lie. I think I want to do something in communications or marketing. Did you?"
Cole nodded as he down on the closed toilet. "All of my siblings are so fucking amazing and they're obviously. on the clear track to take over the business. Well other than Stella since she's so young. The business is great but I want to be the change that I want to see in the world."
"Explain." I requested.
"I think I'd like to go into Politics or law or maybe work for a major media station." he explained to me.
"Columbia has an accelerated JD program." I brought up. "I don't know if you thought about that option.'
"I'm thinking about it." he crossed his arms. "I don't know if I wanna stay here. I'd like to go back to California or somewhere new."
"Same." I agreed with him. "I know you said that all of your siblings are amazing but you are too. Just because you take a different path doesn't mean shit. I think it makes you even more brave and amazing."
Cole looked at me with a smile. "You think so?"
"I know so." I assured him as I put my hands on my shoulders. "For the record, I think that you'd be an amazing politician, television journalist, or lawyer."
