- Cole's POV -

I rolled over in my bed to be greeted by a sleeping blonde.

Damn.

I slept through my 9:30.

Happy birthday to me.

I grabbed my phone off of the nightstand, put on some clothes, and went into the bathroom. There were lots of birthday texts that I needed to responded to, but I saw that she Facetimed me fifteen minutes ago.

So I called her back since I knew it was getting late over there.

"Hi." Aiyla greeted me.

She was sitting in her room with her LED lights on purple. Her hair was straightened which was something that she'd been doing since moving to London.

I missed her curly hair.

"Did you just wake up?" she asked me.

I nodded my head. "I'm hungover as fuck."

"I know, you called me at eight in the morning over here while you were at the bar. You were drunk out of your mind." she chuckled.

"Please don't tell me what I said." I rubbed my forehead. "I still have a class in an hour."

"Happy birthday." Bean added. "I told you when you called me earlier. I just figured that your memory would be foggy."

I smiled at her. "Thank you."

"Are you and Lauren going out tonight?" she asked me.

Please, the only reason we moved on from each other was because of AAiylaa.

"No." I yawned. "Probably just going to Ubereats something and watch the basketball game with the boys. You know how it is."

"I'll Venmo you some money and you and Theo can take a few shots for me." I joked around.

She rolled her eyes. "Whatever. I'm going back to London for the weekend. Natalia and I are supposed to be baking and doing DIYs she found on TikTok."

Aiyla volunteered a lot at the children's hospital, but she was so fond of Natalia. They met at her fundraising event. and the rest was history.

They hung out now and then and Aiyla helped her to run her cooking blog. Their friendship was so adorable.

"Are you coming back to the states over the summer?" I asked her. "I haven't seen you in person since when?"

"New year's eve." she reminded me. "We're going to visit my grandparents for a week in mid-July. I figured that you had another internship or something, so you'd be too busy to see me."

My face sunk. "What? I'd always make time for you, Bean. Don't be silly."

"I know and that's the problem." Aiyla began.

"Where are you going with this?" I questioned her.

She sighed before she began to speak again.

"That's why we decided to move on from each other the last time I visited. We were way too invested in each other that it was affecting everything else in our life. We needed to see life without each other in it." Bean explained herself.

"You say that, but you're the one who still Facetimes me at least twice a week." I reminded her.

"Do you want me to stop?" Aiyla shot back.

God, here we go.

"No. It's just that you're acting like just because you're across the ocean that you're not in my life. You're still very much in my life." I stated my side.
