Before I headed to London for Christmas, I finished all of my mid-terms/finals for school and I felt good about how I did on them. Cole helped me stay on top of school but to be honest, we really helped each other.
His scar wasn't as bad as he made it out to be. It was just a small line near his shoulder but he was still adamant about getting a tattoo. I think he just wanted the adrenaline rush of a tattoo.
"When are you leaving for California?" I asked Sammy as I walked into the kitchen.
"The twenty-second," he responded as he made a sandwich. "How was dinner with the girls."
I put down a box. "Good. I brought you and Cole some of those mozzarella sticks that you like and some garlic knots for Stell and your parents."
"Mhm, you're godsent." Sammy immediately opened the box. "You can take the last two sticks up to Cole. My parents are back yet and Stella is knocked out."
I picked up the box. "Alright. Let me know if you need help packing."
"Shouldn't I be offering my help? Don't you leave in the morning?" Sammy wondered
"Yes, but I can pack quickly." I assured him before I walked upstairs.
I jumped onto Cole's bed as I walked into his room.
"Well, hi to you too." he laughed softly.
"I brought you something." I handed him the box.
Cole opened it and I watch a smile grow on his face. "You're actually the fucking best."
"I'm gonna go take my meds and get something to drink. I'll be back." Cole stood up from his bed.
"I need to take a quick shower anyway." I got up.
"And pack." Cole added as he walked out of his room.
Funny.
I grabbed a pair of pajamas, showered, and started on my night routine. I opened up Cole's side of the drawers to see if he had any floss.
But I didn't find any floss.
Just a small grey box that had the name of a popular jewelry store. I knew that shouldn't have poked around in his shit but I was curious.
I opened the box to see a constellation necklace on a dainty gold chain.
Oh my.
On the bottom of the box, it read 'Aries March 20 - April 19'. It was gorgeous but I didn't want him to know that I'd seen it.
So I put it back where I found it.
"Hi." he greeted me as I walked into his room.
"Hi." I sat down on his bed. "Did you enjoy the sticks?"
He nodded. "They were great."
We talked while he helped me pack and he bought me a lot of peace.
Which was needed before I was back in London.
"It's almost the new year." my grandfather started. "Have you chosen a university?"
I shook my head. "I have not."
"Well, Aiyla it would be really nice to have you here." he went on. "We don't even want you here, we need you here. Theo is also a great nice gentleman."
I sat back in the chair. "That he is."
"I think he would be a nice person to have by your side when you're the ruling monarch." he suggested.
My heart dropped.
To be honest, I didn't even want to think about ruling anything.
"That won't be for a couple more decades." I reminded him. "That is if I chose this life."
