Chloe's P.O.V
After what happened last week, I felt weirdly intimidated by Jade. I couldn't help but feel overpowered every time she spoke to me. She, of course, acted as if nothing had happened last week. When I tried to talk to her about the incident in front of the boys to prove my point since they didn't believe me, she brushed it off as me not getting enough sleep and making things up.Today, I was just minding my own business when Leigh-Anne walked in and leaned on my table. "Hey Chloe, how's that trash-I mean...song going?"
"It's fine" I sighed, not wanting to start an argument.
L-A: "What? Given up already? Y' know, Jade could take your place...as a true leader I mean."
My eyes darted back up at her. "There is no need for a new leader. Not in my group at least"
L-A: "Well there should be a need for one, y' know since Jade's actually the responsible one here"
C: "Well, then she can lead your group, not mine. And I'm just as responsible as she is"
L-A: "Since when" she snickered.
L-A: "She's a better leader than you are, Chloe"
C: "That sounds just as stupid as any other stupid thing you've ever said"
L-A: "You're right...I'm sure Jade would make an even better leader than you ever were" Leigh-Anne stated proudly. Even Perrie and Jesy nodded in agreement from afar. Jade just looked at me and acted all humble and modest. But eventually, the immense encouragement, the girls were putting into her made her feel like maybe a change did need to be made. I wasn't gonna let that happen though.
I spent my day arguing with Jade over what changes needed to be made, starting with replacing the leader a.k.a me.
J: "I'm sorry, why do you get to make any changes?"
C: "Because I am the leader! I always have been!"
J: "Well, then it's time for a change."
C: "Well, it's my decision, since I'm the leader, to make that change"
J: "Boys, what do you think?"
I looked back at them. Seeing their clueless little faces gazing back at me. They knew that any decision they made that contradicted my opinion would result in a fight that would not be pleasant. Preston started clearing his throat, Gavin was sweating immensely, Irfan just fiddled with his hands and Jeremy was just eating a sandwich.
At this point, I didn't want to drag this conversation on any further. I gave Jade a little glare and walked out of the room with the boys. I'm really trying to control the immense irritation roaring inside of me. I just keep telling myself 'Keep it together, Chloe. Keep it together'
Later that day
I was just doodling and scribbling on a blank piece of paper to release my anger when an annoying familiar face popped in to check on me. Jade, to be exact. "Hiya Chloe, whatcha doing?"
"Taking my anger out on this piece of paper"
"Y' know, I thought our little lesson on manners would result in an improvement of behavior, but clearly stricter measures have to be taken," She said, slowly striding around me. This is when that weird feeling came in. It felt like my heart couldn't control itself and was bursting out of me. "I have no time for your flirty antics, Thirlwall," I said plainly. She pouted.
J: "Cheer up, love. Your life isn't over because you aren't leading people."
C: "Do you...do you really think I wasn't good enough to be a leader?"
J: "Chloe, I never said you weren't good enough, I know you're a great leader...even if you're strict."
C: "Then why did we need a change so badly?"
"Love, I just wanna have a taste of what it's like to be a leader for once"
"So...how exactly are we gonna go from here?"
"Well, from now on...you'll do as I say" Jade smiled as she passed me. "Oh don't worry, love. You'll still get an active part in decision-making. Just...not as much as you used to"
"Great...looking forward to it" I muttered sarcastically.
"Likewise"
Sigh. This was gonna be a looooong year.
