Y/N'S POV

Tap, tap, tap!

I shifted the covers up over my ears, curling into the couch. It was way too late at night to be hearing things-

Tap, tap, tap!

       Unless I wasn't.

Eyes slowly peeling open, I turned onto my side to peek through the translucent shades covering the back door.

        Oh, God!

I almost screamed, but instead jumped, almost falling off the couch.

The figure on the other side of the door laughed. Their tail was wagging playfully.

         Wolf.

What was he doing here, so late at night? How did he find my little cousin's house?

I somehow managed to not trip as I left the couch, half hobbling due to my left leg being asleep.

Carefully, I opened the door and yanked him harshly by the arm inside. "What are you doing here, Wolf?" I whispered loudly.

Glancing around quickly to make sure no one had seen, I closed the door.

"First off, Y/N, you whisper like a bullhorn. Second off, you're always busy. So I thought-"

"What? I can't just leave (cousin's name) here." I snapped. My whispering was close to screaming right now. "Even if their parents are coming home tomo-"

Wolf must've gotten bored of my reasoning, because he was sniffing furiously at the fridge.

"Wolf, can you listen to me, please?" I said sternly, and he straightened and met my eyes.

Wolf and I had met a year ago when I was going home from school. I took a shortcut through the woods to get home quicker. Wolf had shown me some blueberries if I ever wanted to snack while I was getting home.

Surprisingly, he was very kind, despite his appearance. Sure, he could look menacing when he wanted or needed to, but he didn't have many friends because of that.

We'd quickly got along, although he sometimes couldn't take things seriously. And he thought I was too rigid.

Really, he's the type of friend that gets you into trouble, but they do mean well.

"I can't just up and leave. (Cousin's name)'s only a little kid." I explained. "What if they get up to get a drink in the middle of the night?"

Wolf sighed. "But it's such a nice night, Y/N. No wind, no stars, just pure black sky. It'll be perfect to stroll."

               "Wolf."

               "Y/N." He mimicked my tone.

               "Wolf, I swea-"

               Creak.

I stilled, listening to the sound of the bed creaking in (Cousin's name)'s room. Then it subsided, and I faced Wolf again.

"You know, Y/N, sometimes I do feel bad for you," Wolf began, feigning sympathy. "You can't lighten up and do things differently."

               "I can!"

"Must do this, must do that. Must do everything, but only as long as it's on my planner." He glared at the blue notebook sitting in my purse.
