EDWARD'S POV

Y/N Y/L/N.

She was so sweet to me, when Kim Boggs introduced her to me. She was Kim's friend, and would sometimes come over to their house, which I was currently living at.

I had met Peg Boggs when she had wandered into my mansion, looking to sell her products. But I gladly let her take me with her, and welcome me to the community, even if I wasn't entirely human.

Kim was nice enough, but she was always hanging out with her boyfriend, Jim. So instead it was Y/N who would hang out with me and- despite my hesitations- help me with eating, or drinking.

She would get a straw and push a cup closer to me, or skewer the food into a shish kebab, and hold it while I would awkwardly eat.

I'd shyly tell her-time and time again- that she really didn't need to do this for me, but she would shrug her shoulders. "I don't mind, Edward. You may have scissors for hands, but that's not all you are. You're sweet."

The first time she said that, I flushed, but she giggled and held the shish kebab. "You can stop if you're done eating." She'd said, noting my face.

But I didn't want to. I wanted to be around her more, but why?

Y/N'S POV

The afternoon sunlight shone brightly as Edward snipped away at the hedges, his scissorhands going every which way.

I was sitting on a chair, reading a book, sometimes watching him work away at the leaves.

For someone who looks intimidating, he was so soft.

Sure, his messy black hair and leather outfit, not to mention his hands, creeped me out at first. But he's really the opposite of what he looks like.

The townspeople thought I was weird for hanging around him. But what did I care?

       They didn't-

"Y/N, hey." Said a slow voice.

Ugh. It was one of Jim's friends, (random name).

I glanced up to see him standing near the fence where the chair was, leaning against it. "You look good."

The smell of alcohol on his breath made me roll my eyes. "You're drunk, I'm not interested."

(Random name) leaned closer, and I pressed my book to my chest. "Are you sure, 'cause I can make you feel real goo-"

"She said she's not interested." Edward spoke, his eyes hard. His voice was slightly louder than I had ever heard him speak. "Leave her alone, (random name)."

He raised his hands up, the light shining off the blades.  (Random name) straightened and backed away, walking the other direction.

"Thank you, Edward. I hate him so much," I breathed, setting the book down. I had never heard him speak loudly before, but I loved his voice regardless. "But you really didn't have to."

"Should we go inside? It's a bit hot." Edward offered, and I nodded.

When we got to the door, I opened it, and his shoulder blocked the door so I could go first.

           "Thank you." I smiled.

The door shut behind us both, and I got glasses for us both. As I was filling them with water, I was vaguely aware of Edward's eyes on me. I raised my head.

"Um, Y/N, can I tell you something?" He squeaked, seemingly lost all of his bravado.

            "Sure, what is it?"

He paused, before coming closer to me, standing at the counter. "You're so nice to me. And I appreciate it."

            Another pause.

"But nobody sees me the way you do." He looked down shyly, his eyes avoiding mine.

            Was he....?

He exhaled on a long breath, some of it stirring his dark hair.

"I got defensive outside because...I love you, Y/N." His brown eyes shone with hope and adoration.

"Even though I-I can't really hold you or anything, but you've been so-"

Without another word, I cupped his face and kissed him, shutting him up.

He tensed up, but then relaxed under me, gently kissing back. His mouth was soft, slightly rough where the scars were, but I didn't mind.

After what seemed like forever, we pulled away. Edward carefully held me, his arms on my waist, but his hands outwards to avoid cutting me.

"I don't mind, Edward, I love you too." I murmured, rubbing my nose to his.

His face could give a tomato a run for it's money.

             "But I can't-"

"We'll figure it out, then, yeah?" I whispered, stroking his cheek lightly. "It'll be alright, just follow my lead. You and me against the odds."

A dry chuckle left his mouth, before he pecked my cheek. "Well, it did work before, I guess."
