RICK DISLIKED BEING CALLED RICHARD, AS EARLY AS HIS MEMORY RECALLS, HE ALWAYS insisted on being called Rick, as he got older it was to respect his late mother, Ana Josephine Sullivan. He was the oldest of the Hershel Sullivans children, after him it was his sister Maggie, and then Shawn, their mother died when Shawn was three, he doesn't remember much of their mother, but Rick was thirteen by the time their mother died, he remembers much of his mother, Maggie was nine almost ten, and she has memories of her mother. Then lastly his baby sister Beth, the blonde haired blue eyed girl, that would win all of their heart and push them to accept Hershel's new wife, Cristina. Rick and Maggie didn't hate her, but they hated how quickly their father moved on, two years after their mothers death.
He remembers having Shane as his close friend and family friend. The Coopers, we're a distinguished family, Shane's father, Dennis was the sheriff, and their mother, Esmeralda was a stay at home mom who ran town events and helped fundraising. Last to the Cooper family, was Anastasia Cooper, rumor has it she's actually the chief's fire station daughter, but that's neither here nor there. Rick could would admit he had a slight crush on Anastasia's, the two being a couple months, almost a year apart, and everyone noticed. Shane told him not to get his hopes up with his sister, she was planning on leaving the small town as soon as she could. With or without her parents support, and a younger-Rick wishes he would of listened to Shane's advice and not taken the chance. But how was he supposed to know that Anastasia Cooper breaking his heart and fleeing town, would send him head first to his life's new chapter.
New York, is where his heartbreak lead him to, he did his first year, with a heartbreak, and in a way it motived him. When he went back during the summer expecting to find Anastasia in town, but was informed by Maggie and Esmeralda, Anastasia stayed in Seattle to work, and take summer classes. Breaking his heart even more, she had sent him a letter, explains her choices, and how competitive pre-med was, especially for a woman, but she would be there for a week. But it was the week after Rick left for New York. During the first semester of his second year her met Lori, a first year art student, Lori Dinah Stone.
The two quickly fell in love and Lori fell pregnant with twins, who become Liv and Junior, the two stayed together and raised the babies as Rick drops out and enrolls into the police academy. Much to his families disappointment of having children out of wedlock, he decided to marry Lori. Which she declined, stating she didn't get pregnant to making him stay and woman don't need to get married and to have children. He asked a few months after the twins were born, before he got a job in his home town. Lori accepted, and the two moved to his hometown, and he climbed the ranks easily, Lori took time off school and got a real estate license and took care of Liv and Junior not trusting daycares. Rick and Lori official tied the knot, Shane even came back home for the ceremony
"Do you not like her?" Shawn asks his sister Maggie, she didn't seem all excited about the wedding.
"It's not that I don't like her, I just always thought it would be Ana." Maggie tells him. "I'm surprised."
