Sneak Attack

. . .

Before class even began, AJ decided that today was just one of those days that he truly hated school. You see, a couple weeks ago, one miss Missy Bradford joined their history class and as soon as she set her eyes on Lucas- the world seemed to be shot to hell. So now, in the minutes leading up to the start of class, the brown-haired boy had to sit through her insufferable flirting with the Texan, who of course was too polite to stop it. AJ nearly hit himself when he actually felt grateful when Mr. Matthews began his lecture.

"Sneak attack," the teacher spoke, "December 7th, 1941."

"A date which will live in infamy." Farkle added with an odd sense of awe.

"A date? They're going on a date?" Riley softly questioned, staring at Lucas and Missy. "In Italy?"

Maya patted the brunette's shoulder, "No honey, you're in history."

"I'm history?"

Oi, pull yourself together smiley girl.

The blonde paused, "Okay, put your hand up."

Riley did so.

"Yes, Riley?" Matthews questioned, "You have a pertinent observation on the subject of the sneak attack?

Maya pulled the brunette's hand down and couched her next words, "May I be excused?"

"My eyes see my shoes." The girl wrongly repeated the simple sentence, causing AJ to roll his eyes.

This is just pathetic.

The blonde sighed and look over at their teacher, pointing her thumb in the direction of the Southern boy and the brown-haired witch.

Matthews sadly smiled, "Yes, Riley, you may be excused."

"Forever?"

"No, you have to come back to class at some point, honey. You just have to."

Riley slowly got out of her seat and walked towards the door, almost walking into the chalkboard as she left the classroom.

Well, that was weird.

"It was another sunny day in paradise," Matthews went on with his lecture once the door was shut. "Before the sneak attack that changed everything."

From outside of the classroom, AJ could see Riley staring through the window.

Does she need a sedative or something?

"Do you like the movies?" Missy voice flittered through the air, "Dark at the movies."

Why does she talk like she has a third grade reading level?

"Depends on the movie. Depends on who I'm going with."
