Flaws

. . .

AJ mindlessly hummed, leaning up against the brick wall of the school. It was still pretty early, only about 8am, and he was waiting for Lucas to finally show up. The Texan had accidentally slept through his alarm and was now running late to school, so he told AJ he'd simply meet him there.

It was almost peaceful, hearing the quite chatter of kids running into the school and the soft singing from the birds nested in a nearby tree. The brown-haired boy closed his eyes, wanting to enjoy it all. It was the making of a good day, until it wasn't.

"What's up Toriello?" A harsh voice spoke, causing the boy to lazily open his eyes.

Stood before him was Jacob Dyer, the certified khnyoke that had apparently made it his life mission to annoy the piss out of him.

"Why I'm doing just fine, Mr. Dyer. Thank you so much for asking," AJ yawned, "What can I do ya for?"

The other boy rolled his eyes, "Why does the school even let freaks like you in?"

"I mean, they let you in- so why not?"

Jacob glared, "I'm not a danger to people."

"The bruises you've left on me would beg to differ," the brown-haired boy argued, "And tell me, why exactly do you think I'm a danger? There's a couple of reasons you could scrape together, but I'm intrigued."

"You tell me, you're the jailbird fairy."

AJ blinked, Where did this get kid his insults? He sounds like an 80's after-school special.

"I'm sorry- am I a bird or a fairy? I'm a bit confused." upon seeing the other boy clench his fist, he added, "Now, now, Jacob. You're already not supposed to be on school property until your 45 days are over. Do you really want to make it worse on yourself? We are in plain sight after all."

Jacob's eyes glanced around, becoming aware of the wandering eyes that looked their way. "This isn't over, Toriello."

"I'm sure it's not," the blue-eyed boy nodded, "Tell me, how happy is the baseball coach now that you're banned from participating?"

The taller boy forcefully made himself step back, "Shut it, k*ke."

AJ rubbed his face, wanting to be done with the conversation. "Woww, I think you officially just turned this into a full on hate crime. That's awfully impressive. Do me a favor? Either throw a punch, or get out of my face."

Before anything else could be said, Lucas walked up to the pair. "Jacob? What are you doing here? I thought coach said you were at the A school?"

Jacob opted to ignore him, and instead spat on the ground next to AJ then stalked off.
