Home for the Holidays
. . .
AJ honestly doesn't know how it happened, but nevertheless there he stood in front of the Matthews' apartment building with all of his siblings in tow. He tried telling Riley numerous times that his family doesn't celebrate Christmas, but she didn't seem to want to listen.
"They do realize we're Jewish, right?" Viola questioned, bouncing Frankie in her arms.
The blue-eyed boy shrugged, leaning forward to press the buzzer on the door. "I tried telling them."
"Shawn?!" a familiar voice excitedly called through the intercom.
"Uhh, it's AJ?" he blinked.
"And Maya!" the said girl announced, having snuck up behind the boy. "And AJ's family."
"Shawn?!" Matthews repeated.
"Aw, what's the matter? Your boyfriend's not here yet?" Maya teased.
"HE'S NOT MY BOYFRIEND!"
"I'm not very sure about that," Vi laughed as the door clicked open, allowing them to walk inside.
Soon enough, the small group made their way to the apartment door. AJ went to knock but Maya simply pushed the door open.
"I don't even think he exists," the blonde immediately walked up to their teacher.
"He's real, Maya." the man insisted, "I've known the guy my whole life, and he's real."
"You're fun to play with," Maya teased and walked off to be with her best friend.
The teacher's eyes then fell onto AJ and his family.
"Hi AJ, merry Christmas. Whose all this?"
"Merry Christmas sir," the boy nodded, holding his youngest brother on his hip. "This is my brother Eli."
"I'm Viola," the girl next to him introduced, then held Frankie out a bit so he could properly see her. "This is our youngest sister, Frankie."
"I'm Sophie," the little blonde then spoke, holding her younger sister's hand. "This is Cady."
Matthews smiled, greeting them all.
"Cady!" a little voice hollered from the kitchen, belonging to Riley's younger brother.
"Auggie!" the brunette grinned.
"You can come help with dinner!" the boy offered, waving the girl over.
"Sir, can I please ask why you invited us here?" AJ questioned, keeping his eyes on his little sister. "You do realize we don't celebrate Christmas? I kept trying to tell Riley but I'm not sure she was listening."
