A/N: smut warning towards the end u have been warned!!
The commotion was too much to be able to tell what had happened immediately. My stomach was in knots as I feared the worst possible scenario.
Once my eyes readjusted and I blinked a few times, I was able to make out Ron standing next to me, breathing heavily with his arm extended and wand in hand.
"Ron," I said shakily as he turned to face me. "Do you remember me?"
He nodded his head while he grinned. "Of course I do," he replied, like there was absolutely nothing to be worried about.
A felt my body relax and I exhaled with relief.
"Do you remember me?" he asked, still grinning from ear to ear.
"Of course," I sighed, smiling back at him. For a moment there, as I observed him staring back at me, I forgot about the elephant in the room.
Or, should I say, the rat in the room.
"If we both remember each other," I began hesitantly. "Then what just happened?" I glanced around the room frantically for any sign of Celeste. "Where did she go?"
"Uh," Ron stammered, his mouth curling into a small smile as he lifted his arm and pointed to the ground a few feet ahead of us. "She's right there."
In front of us stood a small rat with dark fur, screeching and scurrying around in a small circle.
"That's her?" I cried, not being able to help laugh that escaped my lips. "How did that happen?"
"Apparently I use transfiguration when I panic," Ron shrugged simply. "In self defense."
"Well," I laughed, stepping toward the animal on the floor. "What do we do now?"
"I dunno," Ron shrugged, crouching down to get closer to Celeste. "I mean, I've kind of missed having a pet rat around since Scabbers,"
"You are not keeping Celeste as your pet rat," I shot, and Ron just rolled his eyes.
"Fine. We'll bring her to McGonagall or something. She'll know what to do."
Celeste squeaked once more and darted toward me, causing me to take a step back. "How do we, um, transport her?"
"Here we go," Ron said while reaching his hand out and scooping the animal up in his arms. She definitely struggled, but Ron had too tough a grip on her.
"Okay, let's go," I said urgently, rushing Ron out the door while Celeste the rat continued to squirm.
While we made our way through the halls, we ran into Hermione and Harry, who were once again staring at us with concerned expressions.
"What is that?" Harry spat, wrinkling his nose at the creature in Ron's arms.
"It's Celeste," Ron grinned, holding her up to Harry's face to get more of a reaction out of him. Harry jumped back and made a face.
Hermione let out a loud laugh at Ron's statement. "What happened?" she asked, narrowing her eyes to study the animal.
"She tried to obliviate us again," I sighed, shaking my head while also getting a good look at her in rat form. "This was Ron's choice of spell to defend us."
"You better be bringing her to McGonagall," Hermione laughed. "Merlin knows we need her oblivating more people around here."
"Wait," I said, holding my hands up. "You... remember her?"
"Of course," Hermione chuckled, as if a few hours ago she hadn't been calling us insane when we brought her up.
"Take her away," Harry squirmed, continuing to back away from Ron. "Now."
