Luigi woke up that morning with a feeling of dread, accompanied by a darkness unfit for the fact that it was 7:25 AM.
He was nervous, remembering the ominous note. He may have had the occasional doubt about how bad his situation was before, but one thing is certain.
He has no such luxury anymore.
He carefully got up, moving slower to help him navigate the dark until his eyes adjusted to it. Assuming that would happen, of course.
As he made his way down the stairs, he felt like something was watching him.
He kept stopping in his tracks to look around, to make sure nothing was there.
Even if something was, Luigi found it a little comforting to turn around and see an empty hallway.
He continued to at least try getting along with his day, doing his best to ignore how everything felt vaguely dreamlike.
Oh, how Luigi wished he were dreaming right now.
He sat down at his couch, sitting back.
His phone buzzed.
He jumped when he heard it.
Wasn't this thing cutting his connection to everything else?
He reached for his phone, hoping this sound wasn't just bait for him to find nothing, or for it to lash out at him somehow.
Surprised, Luigi instead saw a notification.
He opened it, and saw some a message that looked like it was typed on an eerie-looking notepad app, that of which he didn't even have.
"Hello.
This message is to inform you of what has been happening in the outside world.
It has been: 2 days since your initial capture.
•Your brother has been trying to contact you. There is intent of allowing him to know what has happened to you, but not by message. As a result, how long it will take for your brother to have closure on what happened will depend on your willingness to cooperate.
•Search parties are being considered, however none will be sent until it is certain you are missing. This may be necessary, not that any success will come, of course.
That is all the relevant information from the outside world there is to give.
Farewell for now."
After reading the message, Luigi stared at his phone, it slowly sliding out of his head, where it hit the couch cushion.
What does it mean by cooperate?
He winced, knowing that whatever it had planned for him was malicious.
However, now that the reality of Mario's attempted contact and how he had to do so in order for his brother to know what happened to him had been shown to him, Luigi found himself questioning whether he should or not.
But then he remembered what it was that was trapping him in his manor.
He had to resist. It meant Mario would remain unaware of his whereabouts, yes, but maybe he could escape.
