It felt like he was waiting for forever.
He didn't even know what he was waiting for.
It was an eerie calm, one that kept him still with fear for the unknown.
Soon, he heard screaming, a voice he didn't recognize begging.
Begging to be let out.
Begging for help.
Along with the cries came a sound like the captured man was slamming his hands into the closet door.
Luigi winced, wanting to help but making no effort to even try, for he didn't exactly have the power to do so.
Instead, he remained in the living room, and considering how he didn't get that feeling like the Heart was forcing his actions, Luigi supposed that it wanted him to stay here.
He tried to tune out the screams, or put something over his ears.
If he wasn't going to have the power to help, then he could at least let his mind go elsewhere, right?
No, it seems, every time he tried, he was forced away.
Forced to hear the man's cries knowing he can't do a thing, and that he put this person there.
He hated it, but he dared to think that this was better than the alternative.
At least he's not being tormented by horrific sights all over his home, not even begin allowed to leave.
But the thing was, the Chaos Heart promised that if he let it control him then he could see Mario again.
When is it going to keep up it's end of the bargain?
He winced under the sound of the captive's begging once again.
What, exactly, was the point of this again?
As he sat alone, he started dozing off, but fought to stay awake.
He feared what his dreams held  considering his reality.
But his need to sleep overcame him.
Shockingly, things were nice. Everything was washed with soft colours, the wind carried a scent like fresh baked bread, and for once in a long while, he felt in control.
He dared to let his guard down until he awoke.
He stayed asleep and in this world for a while, and Luigi was enjoying every second of it.
So much so that he felt a pang of disappointment when he awoke.
Right. This is the real world.
He already felt too awake to go back, so here he was
Without any thought, he began to stand up and ascend the stairs, the screams having weakened to shaking sobs and quiet whimpers, the occasional thud on the door.
Luigi looked down. He was going to learn whatever the Chaos Heart wanted with this one.
