I sit across the common room sofa with my legs bent so my knees are halfway to my chest while reading through the book of records. It's so interesting knowing what all of the professors deepest secrets, and of course I could use that to my advantage.
"Hey, genius. At least try to hide that thing." Harry says plopping down in an armchair across from me. I roll my eyes at him and continue to flip through the pages while chewing the end of my pen. I had noticed at least thirty or so blank pages, so I did what I thought was the most appropriate.
I started my own pages for the professors, but from my own perspective. For Moody I already put that he gave Hermione Granger, the brightest witch of her age, her very first detention just for trying to ask a question. It's quite fun actually, it's sort of like I'm a writer for the Daily Prophet. Since they always put opinionated stories with lies intertwined to make it more interesting rather than just reporting the news.
I can practically feel Harry breathing down my neck as I write more details from our detention down. I make it interesting, as if someone were going to read it.
"Do you have a problem?" I snap, making him jump back in his seat.
"No." He clears his throat "I just wants to see what you were writing." He admits. I narrow my eyes at him.
"I'm writing my own version of a file for each professor." I explain.
"Why?" He questions.
"Because I can, now run along. It's clearly nothing you're interested in." I sneer. He crosses his arms and huffs as his face begins to fade from his normal rosey colored cheeks to a more bright and bold red. I can tell I'm getting to him.
"Hey Kennedy, Harry. Whatcha doing with the book of records?" Dean asks while taking a seat on the other end of the sofa.
"Kennedy seems to think it's a good idea to rewrite her own files of each teacher." Harry tattles. I give him a ghastly look.
"Cool! Can I see?" He asks. I have no choice but to hand it over so I don't make myself and Harry look suspicious. But more myself, I don't really care how Harry makes himself look. He's already proven himself as nothing more than an insufferable arse.
Dean snickers a few times while reading my entry. I'm a little confused why he's laughing but I just go along with it until he's done.
"Kennedy, you're really funny. This is good." He complements.
"No way, let me see that." Harry demands grabbing the book out of Deans hands. He reads through it and looks like he's just been proven wrong.
"It's alright." He reluctantly admits. Right as I'm about to insult him Seamus enters and jams himself in between me and Dean.
"Lemme see." He says stealing it away from Harry. None of them have the best of manors. He reads through it smiling at the words. I really didn't think I was that humorous. I guess I stand corrected.
"Who wrote this? Wait I can figure it out... based off of the neat, girly handwriting I'm guessing Kennedy." He suggests, I nod humbly. He hands it back to me.
"Do either of you want a go?" I ask, turni mg to Seamus and Dean, completely ignoring the fact that Harry is sitting three feet in front of me.
Seamus rips the book out of my hands and sticks his hand out for the pen, I hand it over. I realize that he's touching where I was just chewing on but it's better I don't tell him. He flips to a new page and writes at the top of the page,
Severus Snape
Oh how I hate Snape.
Hermione passes through and immediately begins to try as guilt us into handing it in. "You could be expelled for that you know!" She scolds.
We all look up at her and wrinkle our foreheads. "Fine but I don't want any part in this." She declares as she storms out. We all just shrug it off and continue writing horrible things about our professors. Seamus and Dean are both very comical, I've always known that but I'm really cracking up at some of the things they write. I hate my laugh though, I'm so insecure about it so I try and giggle quietly to myself when I find something funny. I think the three of them take notice to me trying to keep my laughter to a minimal based off of Seamus's comment.
"What? Do you think we're going to punish you for laughing at our jokes?" He asks.
"No, no. I just know my laugh is really annoying." I admit. I constantly apologize after laughing so I'm used to it.
"What?" Dean asks.
"My laugh, it's ugly." I nervously play with my fingers because of the awkwardness.
"I swear these girls, they pick themselves apart." Harry says while sitting back in his chair.
"You're telling me." Seamus answers as if I'm not there.
"Listen, Kennedy nobody cares about your laugh. And if they do then they've got serious issues." Harry says carelessly while looking into the fire.
"Oh ok. Thank you."
He doesn't know it but that probably just made my entire week. Even coming from him.
"Yeah...anytime." He says confused. The three of them exchange looks reading that I'm crazy. I take the book back and begin adding more notes to Moody's page, just because I dislike him that much more than the other teachers.
"We should keep this book around, and when something else interesting enough happens, we add it in." Dean suggests.
"Yeah, I can just keep it in my book bag and if someone wants to borrow it you can just ask." I say.
"Sounds good." Seamus adds.
"What does?" I hear Oliver's voice say from the portrait hole. I roll my eyes at him being so nosey. And at the fact that he's starting the three of them down as he walks in.
"Nothing, Ollie. Leave us alone." I whine. I see the three of them follow Oliver with their eyes as he walk over to us. It's really bloody annoying to have your older brother as the quidditch captain, everyone is afraid of him. Not in the way that he would beat them up or something, they're just afraid to talk to him. With the exception of Harry, but he wouldn't dare say something to offend him.
"Alright, Goodnight to all of you." He says while heading up the stairs. I make a face at him once he can't see me anymore. I then place the book in my bag and say Goodnight to the three boys and begin up the stairs.
Once I'm only a few steps up, Harry scoffs "She's unpleasant." He says trying to get the other two to agree.
Ouch.
"Uh no, not at all actually. I think she's rather fun to be around." Dean debates.
"Yeah, I don't know many girls who aren't afraid of consequences and getting in trouble. Pretty cool if you ask me." Seamus adds.
The rest of the conversation fades out as they head up their own set of stairs.
