Officially, Harry and I aren't really together. Everyone just assumed we were, there was never any asking out or anything. I'm too scared to bring it up though, I can't tell if he thinks that we're together or not.
But he's sort of caught up in this idea of starting some sort of defense program where he teaches us real spells. I'm not against it but it sounds a little complicated. Supposedly he's already organized the whole thing and invited a bunch of people to the room of requirement. That's where I'm headed now, he wanted me to come early to help him plan out the first gathering.
I push the door open cautiously, in case there were someone else in there "Kennedy, I'm so excited. You're going to love this, and I'll help you extra on the side if you want." Harry rambles on as I walk in.
He waves me over excitedly. "Take out your wand." He instructs. I follow his order and take it out.
He steps closer behind me and uses his hand to gently push my arm up to the right position, I look back at him for his approval to keep going. He gives a nod with a smile "Think of your happiest memory, not just a time that you were happy. It's needs to be powerful, the best you've ever felt." He explains.
Every happy memory I've ever had has just been erased from my memory as soon as he's asking me to come up with one. Nothing that I'm thinking of is good enough, the best I've got is the first day of school in first year.
Not a specific moment necessarily, but the whole day, especially the sorting ceremony. All I had wanted to do was to make my brother proud and be sorted into Gryffindor. I still remember the pure excitements that I got when the hat told me I'd be in my preference house, especially after teasing me that I'd do well in the other houses.
"Ok, I think I'm ready." I say. He shakes his head at me.
"You have to be confident, you have to know that you're ready." He explains.
I nod again with more assurance and let my head fill with the feeling of joy that I had gotten when the hat bellowed my house of gold and scarlet.
As I shout the spell with much force I'm immediately disappointed by the nothingness that comes out of the tip of my wand. I let my hands fall to my sides and turn towards Harry.
"Try one more time." He suggests, his excitement still high.
"No, it's clearly not working." I sigh.
"I think that your problem is that you're looking for the result rather than putting lots of effort into the spell, I can see you're looking at your wand for something to come out of it. Try closing your eyes, I promise I'll tell you if it works." He instructs.
Reluctantly, I raise my wand again and shut my eyes slowly.
"You already have a bad attitude." Harry points out.
"Well maybe it's because-"
I'm cut off by Harry pressing his soft lips against mine. His hands slowly find my waist as mine wrap around his neck, I can feel him smirking through his kiss.
He pulls back slightly, "I couldn't stand your constant complaining anymore." He laughs.
I tilt my head in disappointment because that was the reason why he felt the need to kiss me, but he eases some with another peck on the lips. This brings up my question.
"Harry, you know the letters we had sent this summer?" I begin.
"Yeah, what about them?" He asks.
"Well you said that if we were going to school together you would've wanted to be in a relationship of some type. Obviously that could have changed by now but I was just wondering what that meant for us now because we're here; at school." I realize I sort of rambled on a bit bio he gets the point.
"Oh," his eyebrows raise "You thought we weren't already together?" He asks.
Gosh I feel like an idiot. "No, but I do now." I mumble.
"Don't worry love," when he calls me that, I can't take it. I can practically feel my heart melt. "I had only assumed it since we both agreed in our letters. It's my fault, I should've asked you out formally." He explains.
"No, it's nobodies fault. I just wanted to clear things up." I clarify.
The door opens suddenly, letting students in all houses, except for Slytherin, into the Room of Requirement.
Harry begins his instructions while I join the large group to blend in better. I stand around Neville, Ginny and Luna who are listening actively. I myself can't help but get distracted by Harry, although he's the one giving instructions I can't focus on the words coming out of his mouth.
I've just found out that he's though we have been together this whole time, there's no way I could think of anything else in this moment. He's actually my boyfriend, I'm allowed to stare without being judged.
The Weasley twins who are standing behind me both lean down on either side of me.
"Whipped." They say at a low tone.
I cross my arms and turn around. "I am not." I retort.
"Are too-"
"-We saw you-"
"-Can't keep your eyes-"
"-Off him-"
"-Can you?"
They ask by alternating every half a sentence.
"Well he is my boyfriend, so there's that." I mention. It's so nice to be able to say it in confidence.
"Really? What does your brother think of that?" They question simultaneously.
The whole school knows my brother all too well, and how protective he is. It's really embarrassing, he makes me feel like a baby. I'm fifteen, I can take care of myself and my own relationships by now.
"We'll see." I mutter.
"Oh don't tell me this a secret boyfriend? And he's the chosen one? You've got your work cut out for you, Wood." Ginny pipes in. I hadn't noticed that she was listening but she has seemed to acquired some of the listening and prancing skills of her twin brothers, I've noticed her trialing along with them lately.
"Shhh!" I scold as I gesture for them to pay attention and leave me alone.
"Alright, everyone go off on their own and try it!" Harry finishes excitedly.
I wasn't really listening to what he said, but I'm sure he won't get angry if I ask him to repeat it to me so I begin to go up to him when I'm tapped on the shoulder rather forcefully. I turn around expecting it to be Ginny and the Twins again but I actually come face to face with Cho.
"You and Harry aren't together right? Not officially at least?" She asks sweetly. I get a feeling that smile is as fake as her liking for me though.
"We are actually, we're dating." I clarify while keeping a smile.
"Oh, that's interesting." She says while looking past me. I turn my head and realize she's starring at Harry who is helping Ron with something.
"Yeah, and we're doing well thanks for asking." I cut back in.
"Anytime!" She finishes while turning away. I could've sworn I saw a glare from her as she went back to her friends.
