The second time she met the Doctor was at his funeral.

Suddenly Clyde replaced the Doctor once more, and the Shansheeth immediately stopped their attack at the sudden change.
"But I was on a planet." The boy was confused, a hand raised to his head. Jane grabbed it and shook her own.
"Never mind that now. We need to go!"
The vultures stalked behind the group as they ran down the corridor. It wasn't long before her friend switched again and it was now the Doctor that was holding her hand while they were running.
She would have looked surprised, but there wasn't the time for that now. The pair jumped through a door her mum was holding open, the Doctor pausing to wave the woman through. "Come along, Smith."
They were all running into the dormitory, Karim walking up the corridor in a rather calm manner compared to the rest of the group. "In, in, in."
"I'm sorry, is there a problem?" The Doctor shut the door on the Colonel before opening it and speaking to her once more.
"Sorry, I was slamming it." Then he slammed the door shut. He turned and leaned himself against the door, turning to look at the pair of Smiths.
"Right. Now we need to lock it. Come on, use the sonic lipstick." He waved his hand about, and while her mother looked dazed - the young woman dug into her trouser pocket and puller her own sonic out. She took the cap off and twisted the device up and pointed it at the door. There, now it was locked.
"Haven't you got the screwdriver? Mine's in my bag..." Sarah Jane had questioned, while the Doctor shook his head.
"They took it."
"We're running out of time." The Doctor continued, ending the previous conversation and grabbing Jane's hand. "Are you ready for your first planet?"
"What?"
And they disappeared to be replaced with Clyde.

Suddenly, the pair were on a planet, the sky bright red, and trash covered the surface of it.
"No, no, no, no. Let's get you working properly. Stop, stop stop!" The Doctor had bent down the device he had built, pulling wires about as he worked.
"Where are we?" The young woman breathed, taking the time to turn around in a circle. They really were on another planet.
"The Wasteland of the Crimson Heart. Planet Earth's that way. Bit of a long walk." The man had stood up, gesturing towards the direction of her home planet. "Sonic, please." He made a point of handing out his hand, which caused the girl to raise her brow.
"Just tell me what I need to do." She was quite possessive of the device, moving to kneel down beside him. He would point, she would sonic - they were quite a good team.
"There." The Doctor pulled a blue wire, pointing before putting it in the device to which Jane then sonic'd.
"So... you have a new face." The woman hadn't been too sure how to approach the topic, but perhaps this was the best way.
"I regenerated." He pointed once more, and they continued to work on the device as they spoke.
"Does it hurt?"
"It always hurts. And there."
Jane stood up, keeping her sonic in hand in case he needed anything else done. She turned on the spot, taking another chance to look at the alien world they were on.
