Blake's POV
I woke up to the feeling of two strong arms wrapped around my waist and someone's chest pressed against my back.
As I looked around the room, I noticed that it looked nothing like mine. I almost freaked out until I rolled over and saw Noah's face.
The events of last night came flooding back in and I had an answer to why my back was hurting.
After a few attempts, I was finally able to sit up. I frantically searched for my phone then saw the flower covered case peaking out from my backpack, which was all the way across the room.
I groaned and slowly pulled myself out of bed, the pain in my back intensifying as I dragged my feet along the ground.
At first, I casually read the time to myself, "9:14", but as the fact that school starts at 8:00 registered in my mind, I screamed in shock, startling Noah who was just starting to wake up.
"What? What is it?" Noah asked, voice still raspy and eyes barely open.
"We're late Noah, that's what it is!" I yelled back, scrambling to find yesterday's clothes.
Noah climbed out of bed and walked over to me, grabbing my arm as it slipped through the arm hole of my shirt.
"Would you relax-"
"Relax? Don't tell me to relax, Noah."
"Look, I've been late plenty of times. Just get a tardy sheet and walk into class with your head down."
I rolled my eyes, yanking my wrist from his grasp and continuing to get dressed. Noah shrugged his shoulders and headed towards the bathroom.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"Taking a shower. I'm already late, might as well smell good when I get there."
I stared at him for a moment before grabbing my things and his keys, leaving the room in a hurry.
"Wait! Where are you going?" Noah called after me.
I stopped at the top of the steps, "To school."
"How are you gonna to get there?"
I dangled his car keys in the air then turned and jogged down the stairs.
"So am I just supposed to walk?"
"Well, since you don't care what time you get to school, it shouldn't matter how you get there either, should it?"
With that, I rushed out the door and hopped in his car, cranking it up and pulling out of the driveway.
I ran a few lights and cruised through some stop signs, but eventually I made it to school 5 minutes before the second class.
"Excuse me," I said to the front desk lady.
She looked up with an annoyed glare and began chewing her gum even more obnoxiously.
"Yes?"
"I need a tardy slip."
She grabbed a piece of paper and a pen, shoving them into my hands and looking back at her computer screen.
I quickly filled out the sheet and ran to my 2nd period classroom right before the bell rang. I gave the teacher the paper and plopped down in my seat out of breath.
About 10 minutes into class, I felt something hit my back. I turned around and saw Dixie gesturing to a crumpled ball of paper on the ground.
I picked it up and opened it to see the message she had written:
Where's Noah?
I grabbed a pencil and wrote back:
Minding his business.
I crumpled the paper back up and waited for the teacher to turn to the board before throwing it back to her.
Assuming she was mad, I didn't look behind me for the rest of class.
Once the bell rang, I made my way to my locker, starting to wonder the same thing as Dixie since Noah still hadn't shown up.
I decided to call him so I dialed his number and waited. Soon he picked up and I immediately started talking.
"Where are you?"
"Oh, look who cares now."
"Just answer the question."
I heard shuffiling on the other end before Noah finally responded.
"I'm staying home today." He said.
"You mean you're skipping school?!"
"Guess so."
"You can't do that!"
"You can if you're me and your boyfriend stranded you at home." Noah responded.
"Ok, but you have two perfectly capable legs."
"I'm not good at math, but I'm pretty sure a 30 minute drive is longer by foot."
I let out a sigh, feeling a little guilty, but not enough to go and pick him up.
We talked for a bit longer until I had to hang up and go to my next class.
Just as I closed my locker, I felt a presence behind me and figured it was Dixie.
I turned around, ready to use my best comebacks, but instead I came face to face with Bryce.
"I heard Noah wasn't here today, so I guess he can't stop me from beating you up." Bryce said.
Right as he punched me, I saw Dixie standing behind him, a smirk on her face.
Next thing I knew, everything went black.
