A week without having to work did not exist for you.
Today was one of the days that you had to work.
And so you headed off to your workplace.
As you were right on time for your shift to start, you quickly began to work after changing your clothes very fast.
You were walking to a table to take orders.
"What would it be?" you asked the three boys sitting on this table. They all were around your age with average height and dark hair.
They said their orders one after another.
Then, the last one of them said, "I'll take a cup of coffee and...", he looked up at you and continued with a smirk, "your phone number."
Your lips formed a small smile and while ignoring him, you said, "That's it then. Thank you for your order. Please patiently wait for it to arrive."
You turned to go but got stopped by him as he said, "Hey, wait. What's with your number?"
So you faced him again and said, "I'm sorry. Phone numbers are not on the menu.", before you continued your way to the kitchen to hand over the list of orders to the chiefs.
Luckily you didn't had to face those boys anymore and so you could continue to peacefully do your work for the rest of the day.
"Ugh..." You massaged your legs a bit that had gone a little numb from walking and running around too much.
"Well then, have a nice evening!" you said to your colleagues as you waved goodbye and walked towards the back door.
Once the door was open, something unexpected was in sight.
Red locks were shining in the dark night that got illuminated by a street lamp.
Those locks belonged to one one other than Vinny who leaned on a fence.
When he heard the door being opened, he looked over and the moment he recognised you, he walked towards you.
The moment he arrived, you pulled him into a hug.
You didn't know why but right now, all you wanted was to feel his warmth.
Vinny didn't ask anything and just hugged back.
And so you two remained like this for a couple of minutes.
"Well then, let's go back." you said and released your hug.
As you wanted to turn and go to your bike, your aching legs suddenly gave in and you stumbled.
But thanks to Vinny's quick reflexes, you got caught by him before you could hit the ground.
"You don't look too good." he said and without another word, he grabbed your arm and stopped at his track.
A confused look from you swifted to him and before you knew it, you got swept off your feet and carried in bridal style.
Only a few seconds later, did you realized what just happened and you began to try and convince Vinny to let you down.
But the redhead didn't budge one bit and after a few tries, you finally gave up.
"But how are you going to ride your bike now? You can't even properly push your bike like this."
A short time of silence filled the air.
Vinny then said, "Then, you should push my bike while I carry you. But I have to carry you piggy back in order to do that."
And so, since you were fine with it, you did what he had suggested; Vinny continued to carry you but in piggy back style and you held onto his bike with one hand while he did so.
"Thanks Vinny." you mumbled when you rested your head on his shoulder.
"You really shouldn't overwork yourself like this."
"Don't worry. Tomorrow is the last day I have to work. After that, I won't have any shifts for a week."
"Let's have a movie night then. Just the two of us." Vinny suggested.
"All right. That will be fun."
When you two finally arrived home, Vinny didn't let you go until he brought you into your room in which you thanked him again.
"I'm going to prepare dinner. You're not moving from this spot until I'm finished." He demanded and turned to go but before he was out of your sight, you called out to him, saying, "But I can still move to change my clothes, right?"
Vinny froze on the spot and let out a sigh.
"Don't move around too much though..." he mumbled and disappeared right after.
Since you also didn't want to strain your legs any more than this, you were quick with changing your clothes and sat down on your bed right after doing so.
15 minutes had passed and Vinny appeared again.
He lifted you up and carried you down to the kitchen.
While you two were eating, your phone's notification rang.
Of course you were looking at it to see what you got but you weren't the only one who caught the attention of the sound.
Vinny also looked at the screen of your phone and when he laid eyes of the picture you had set as your lockscreen, his eyes widened a little by surprise.
You quickly grabbed your phone so that he couldn't look at it anymore.
But it was already too late.
A sly smile played on his lips which indicated that he had already seen it.
"Okay, on second thoughts it's not really something that I should keep a secret. He is my boyfriend after all."
And so you placed your phone back on the same spot it had laid before.
"This is the photo you took of me back then when we were at the temple, right?" he asked as he continued to stare at your phone which already turned back to a black screen though.
"Yup... it looks really pr-" you stopped because you wanted to say 'pretty' but after you realized that it didn't really fit him you quickly ended your sentence with, "cool".
It seems that Vinny hadn't notice as he didn't say anything.
Vinny turned on the tv and the news were playing right now.
"The attempted but failed robbery made by xxx at the xxx cafe happened a month ago. It seems that he had planned it with some partners that are not caught yet. We still don't know the names nor the faces of the rest of the group are and there also doesn't seem to be any witnesses that happened to see them. (...)"
The facts that the reporter said and the picture of the man they said that they had caught were something you could recognise.
You could still remember that day clearly, as if it had happened just yesterday.
Of course Vinny also knew what the reporter was saying.
"Those a$$holes..." he growled as he continued to listen to the reporter.
"I'll kill them when I see them again..."
You would have never thought that it would really happen.
