Noah's POV

"Seriously man, I owe you. Anything you need," I tell Justin.

"Relax, bro. I'm just glad you finally came to your senses. Seriously, I was beginning to worry," he says from the other end of the phone.

I'm on my way to the airport, and if this Uber driver doesn't step on the damn gas in the next 5 seconds then there's a good chance that I'm going to miss my flight.

Justin's guy Jerry hooked it up and booked me on a direct flight out of Charleston International to Westchester County Airport less than 48 hours after I called him.

Like the great friend that he is, Justin didn't think twice when I asked him if he could watch Maggie for the next week. It was hard to leave her, but it also helped that Maggie pushed me to go. When I told her my plan, she didn't even think twice about helping me pack my bags. Little rascal.

"Sir, can you go any faster?" I move my head away from my cell and ask him. Someone his age should not be handling a steering wheel, that's for shit-sure.

"I'm going as fast as I can, young man," he tells me.

"You're going 15 under the speed limit," I inform him, but he just ignores me and turns the dial up on the radio. Great, as if his driving wasn't bad enough, now I'm stuck listening to music from the 50s.

"How's she doing?" I shift my attention back to Justin and ask about Maggie. If I don't distract myself from this disastrous driving situation, I might just open the car door in the middle of the highway and run to the airport. I'd get there faster.

"She's good. She's making the fam mac and cheese. She insisted on it for dinner," Justin says, and I chuckle into the phone. Maggie's favorite.

"Tell her you want chocolate chip cookies for dessert. She'll love that," I tell him.

"What time's your flight?"

"In like 45 minutes," I say. I didn't realize how close I'm cutting it until I said it out loud.

"Are you shitting me? And you're still in the car?"

"Trust me, bro, I'm not letting that plane leave without me. Don't you worry."

"I never do. Just, be safe, bro."

"I will. And, thank you again, man, really. You're a life-saver."

"Don't mention it. Now, go get your girl."
