Chapter 10

Prince's POV

"I was gonna ask her, but Prince Charming stole my move," he air quotes.

"I knew this would happen, man." I shook my head as we walked. "Should've asked her out earlier. I told you but didn't wanna listen."

"Yeah yeah, whateva, man. At least I'm not going to the dance alone."

"Who are you doing to the dance with?" I asked.

"Ciara. From the cheer team."

"Ciara. Now that's a fine woman right there," I look and smirk as I imagine the image of her beauty.

"She asked me though, and I told her okay. Nothing too serious."

"What? You mean you got the girl to ask you first?"

"Yes. What's wrong with that?" he asks as I shook my head as we walked back to my place.

I was tired as hell from Halloween. It was a good time to remember, but it was time for me to retire this costume. Michael stayed at my place and slept on my couch.

It's Saturday morning and I got up to prepare to cook some breakfast for my little sister. I walked downstairs and noticed Mike was gone. I guess he went back to his place so he can change. I'll see him at the game later on.

I walk into the kitchen and prepare some scrambled eggs and pancakes for me and my sister to eat for breakfast. Tyka finally came down and started to eat. As I was fixing our plates I heard the front door close. I walk out the kitchen and into the living room and see it was my drunk mother that finally arrived home. I shook my head and rolled my eyes as I saw her lay on the couch knocked out and then went back in the kitchen and to eat my breakfast.

"Mom's home?"

"Yeah. Drunk and tired as usual."

"You know, don't you think we should worry about mom and her habits? I get pretty worried about her."

"Tyka, forget it. We tried helping her numerous times and each time she broke out of rehab. I'm done playing superhero with her," I looked at my food as she gave me a sad look on her face. I put my fork down and look at her.

"Look, she has to want it for herself. Nothing that we can do," I assured her. She nods and goes back to eating her meal. After we ate, I cleaned up the dishes and then went upstairs to get ready and change into my clothes. I packed my pockets with the weed that I have to sell off before I head to the game. I go to the bathroom and brush my teeth.

After I finish, I walk downstairs and notice my mother isn't in the living room anymore. I guess she went up to bed I guess. I shrugged it off and got my shoes on and left the house. I took the bus to 79th Stony Street and met up with a few people that I needed to deal with my weed. Then I bounced over back on the bus and headed to 76th to Rosenbaum Park. I finally arrived at the game and I looked over to see Mike on the bleachers and gave him a wassup head gesture.

"Aye man, did yo thang?"

"Of course," he says, putting his focus on the field where teams were huddled up.
