"Well?" Seonghwa asked his lover.

"This seems like a fun challenge." San played with one of his knives.

"It's not just a challenge, San. It's also to protect the city." Hongjoong speaks.

BAM BAM BAM BAM!

"Seriously... you just start going back to training after the letter was read out loud?" Yunho rubbed the sides of his head in annoyance.

"Yes." Wooyoung cheaply replied before reloading his pistol.

"Next time warn us?" Yeosang asked rubbing his ears from the sudden gunshots.

   Right now, the mafia group, 8TEEZ, was in their training sector. Mingi had come in with a letter, reading it in front of the other seven, but they didn't seem to really care. 8TEEZ was the fifth mafia group to join in on Seoul's protection. They were quite different compared to the other seven mafia groups. All eight members were born into the mafia life and specifically, they were born in the criminal side of mafias.

   As children, the eight came from different families. Their families were very abusive if their child didn't get anything right. The oldest, Seongwha, couldn't keep up as well as the other siblings he had. His family would beat the boy until he was knocked out. He was friends with the other seven, but they'd get the same treatment as well if they stepped in, no one ever interfered with these beatings as they feared their parents a lot. It was a harsh life for them until their families decided to send the eight boys out to the forest.

   This was a challenge where they had to survive forty-eight hours in the forest by putting their training to use.  Not only did they have to survive in the forest, but they also had to hide from their families. If any of them gets caught by any family member, they'd be killed, being unworthy of belonging in the mafia family. 

   Each boy was given either a knife or a hatchet, a water pouch, and a pack of matches.

"Use these wisely. Good luck." Seonghwa's mother spoke to them. "Remember, you get caught, you die." The boy's mother eyeing her own son, causing the oldest of the eight to look down.

   This, of course, angered the seven boys. They couldn't do anything. Over the years, new rules were always made, which also meant crueler things. A time where Wooyoung was brought in for punishment, fifteen slashes on the left arm, the boy cried in agony. Seonghwa has always had the kindest heart and he couldn't bear to see his friends like this. No one could. Though he knew the consequences, he stepped in, grabbing onto Wooyung's older sister's arm to stop her. She enjoyed seeing her brother in this state, tear-stained cheeks, blood staining his pale skin like a canvas, his pained cries, and the scars left on him. It felt euphoric to their siblings to watch people whither in fear and pain. The feeling of dominance and feeding on people's fears made them feel powerful and superior. That euphoric feeling, however, was interrupted by Seonghwa. She turned to face the boy that stopped her and glared at him.

"You're interrupting my fun." Her voice was filled with annoyance and anger.

"You need to stop, he's your brother." Seonghwa retorted.

"Oh~ You're interfering? I see..." She looked into the boy's eyes before smirking.

"A new rule, whoever disrupts us from punishing, the one who's already punished will receive twice the amount of the original punishment." She turned away and stared at Wooyoung's bleeding arm which was bound onto the metal table with leather straps.

"Which makes it thirty slashes." She says taking her knife back.

   Seongwha's eyes widened in fear. He hated it when they kept adding more to their rules. His palms turned into fists, about to punch Wooyoung's sister before someone stopped him. He felt a hand on his shoulder and looked to see who it was. Behind him, was San. The younger boy shook his head, tears willing to fall at any moment. Seonghwa's body faltered seeing the younger. San really loves Wooyoung, but the more they tried to avoid these punishments, the more they seemed to get worse.
