Chapter 13

I keep quite, it's not like I can speak. I stare back at him and nod. I think he got the message because he pulled out his phone and opened notes, he handed it to me. I looked down at it before looking up at the sky. Should I just get over this no talking thing? I open my mouth like I was going to speak, but not a single thing came out other then a small embarrassing squeak. He turned to me

"What was that?" He had a small smile tugging at his lips.

"S-s" I pause "sch-o-o-l" I answer with a whisper and stutter. His small smile turned into shock

"You spoke?" He was surprised "I didn't understand what you said. Do you... wanna try again?"

"I" I point to myself "w-wa-s at sch-o-ol" I point towards the direction of the school

"You were at school?" He questioned and I nodded "why didn't we check the school?" He whispered lowly to himself, but I heard it. I just shrugged

"B-be-at-s me-e" I look back at the colorful sky

"We should tell the others about you beginning to speak" he went to move and get up, but I grabbed his shoulder

"No" I shook my head

"What do you mean no? Why not?"

"I-I'm no-t r-ready. T-this s-tays bet-w-ween us" he sat back and I released his shoulder. my throat was starting to hurt

"Ok" he put his hands up and looked me in the eye before I turned away from him. I look down and see I still have his phone "well, we'll tell them when your ready"

"T-thank yo-u" I moved my hand giving him his phone back

"Yeah. Hey I'm gonna go down and tell everyone you are ok and where you were. We'll try not to freak out next time, but you're going to tell someone where your going" I nod and he got up to leave

I continued to stare at the sky before heading back into my room, I pulled out some of my homework and sitting down on my bed to do it. Not even an hour later Ashely came in to tell me dinner was ready, I picked at some of it before eating close to half the plate which was the most I've eaten in a long long time. I had washed my dish before disappearing into my room for the rest of the night.

I was half way through my homework when I just stopped, I couldn't do anymore. I need a break, I had missed a few days and collected what I missed and got half of it done. I guess this is what happens when you miss school, you get lots of homework, but I mean it wasn't really my fault that I missed all that schoolwork. Not entirely anyways. Finally I just turned out the light to sleep

I gasp and turn my head to look around me, I was in a hospital type room. How'd I get here? What happened? Where was my dad? So many questions ran throw my head before a beeping sound started to get louder and I was pulling a thing out of my mouth so that I could breath better. A doctor and a few nurses came running in. The doctor checked his charts before smiling and walking towards me, some of the nurses left the room while two of them stayed following the doctors lead

"Hello dear" the doctor smiled "I'm doctor Marina"

"H-hi" I stutter with a scratchy voice

"Would you like some water?" Doctor Marina Asked and I nodded. A nurse got me some water and I drank it all dry

"Thank you" I whispered

"So I'm gonna ask some simple questions" she flipped through her charts "What is your full name?" I paused and thought for a second

"Gracie Louis Martin"

"Ok Gracie, how old are you?" She was writing stuff down

"I'm..." I paused again "fourteen"

"Good, now what is your fathers name?"

"John Martin. Wait where is my dad?" I asked looking at the doctor, who's face turned sour before a pitiful look came over her face

"Ummm, I'm sorry dear he passed way a few months ago. You've been a coma for the last seven months"

"W-What?" I started crying and she hugged me tightly
