Ashley had gotten me home last night and I've gone back to locking myself in my room and going to school online, at this point I was getting tired of everyone around me, of this life. I needed out, or I needed to go away for a little while to collect myself. Ashley was at school and Marcy had got to work, leaving me alone as always. I get up quickly throwing clothes and necessaries into a duffle bag, I rummage the house for enough money for a bus ticket to god knows where.
I rush down the street towards the bus stop out of the city. I pull the hood over my head try to seem invisible. Ten minutes later the bus pulls up to the stop and the doors swing open and an old lady smiled at me and motioned for me to get on.
"Where to?" she asked
"How far can this get me away from Payson?" I hand her the money
"Big Water, Utah"
"Then that's where I want to go" I nodded and headed for the back of the bus
For the next three hours I listen to music and watch people get on and get off. finally we come to a rest stop and I get off heading for the bathroom, before I even make it my phone goes off signaling I'm getting another call. Looking at the caller ID -Ashley-
"Hello" I answer after clicking the green button after canceling the call so many times
"Where are you?!" she yelled into the phone
"Somewhere" I leaned on the building that the bathrooms resided
"Are you ok?"
"Yes"
"Tell me where you are and I'll come get you"
"No"
"That's it I'm calling they guys, I'm calling Tyler" She threatened me, I felt like laughing
"Go ahead, Tyler is not going to help you. He wants nothing to do with me now" I nearly yelled into the phone "So go ahead, try, but you wont find me"
I clicked end on the call and flipped the phone in my hand, I dropped it on the ground and slammed my foot into the phone smashing it into pieces, I picked up most of them and then throw it into the closest trash can. I used the bathroom and head back to the bus. Three more hours later and I'm getting off the bus
"You be careful now" I smiled back at the bus driver
"I will, thank you. I stepped off the finally step and the turned around quickly "If anyone and I mean anyone asks you about me or where you dropped me off. You never saw me" I pleaded with her
"Are you in some type of trouble?" she asked worriedly
"No, no, nothing like that. I'm- I just need to step away from my family for a bit"
"Well, good luck and I hope to see you on my bus back home soon"
"Yeah" I walk away more into the small town of Big Water
'Where am I supposed to live for the time being? I have no money'
I walked around the town for a while, I suddenly noticed that it was getting dark. I really did not think any of this through, at all. I was kind of starting to regret this run away thing. I stop when I spot a twenty-four hour diner, walking across the street I slowly open the door and head for a seat in the back of the diner.
I look around and see it was mostly a modern diner with little fifties decorations hidden around. I was startled when a woman in her early forties, I moved my hood off my head and starred up at her, she was smiling down at me
"What can I get you sweetie?"
"Umm, I- I don't h-have any money" I looked away "I-I just needed somewhere t-to stay for the n-night I guess" The waitress took a seat in front of me
"What is your name? Mine is Noelle De'Long"
"Gracie" The waitress laughed lightly "What's so funny?" I asked nervously
"My middle name is Gracie" I laughed lightly at that
"That is a little funny"
"What's your last name if you don't mind me asking?"
"Martin" I used the very first last name I was given. I watched her face fall a but before smiling back at me
"Nice to meet you Gracie Martin"
"And nice to meet you Noelle De'Long"
