No one's POV

Elli is still quite confused as to why Reggie wants to show her something and what exactly that something is. Reggie keeps telling her to wait and that it is a surprise, so she should stop asking because there is no way he is going to tell her about it. She finds it extremely cute how passionate Reggie seems about the things he does.

A few minutes pass and they have finally made it to Reggie's mysterious location. He brought Elli to the beach. The same beach Luke, Alex and him had been at, when he wanted to go find his family. The same beach he used to live at. If only his house was still standing. If only he could go to his room for one last time. If only he could see his family again.

"So you wanted to show me the beach? It's beautiful. Great. Let's go back", Elli says as soon as she realises where they are. She doesn't understand why Reggie would bring her here. It's a beach. How exciting. Julie has not been found yet and Elli isn't about to waste any time here. They need all the time they can get. Time is precious.

Though, Reggie doesn't let her leave.

"Look, we're not going back", he stops her from running off, "You need to give yourself a break. I know you haven't slept in days, alright? So, we're just going to sit down and relax for a bit. You need this. I need this." The further he continues to talk the quieter he gets as Elli blankly stares at him.

She notices how quiet his voice had gotten when he said that he also needed this. How is she supposed to say no to that? It's impossible. Maybe it isn't impossible for everyone, but it is extremely impossible for her. She is a people pleaser. Not being able to say no to something or someone is one of her biggest weaknesses. Whenever she does it, she feels like she is the most selfish person on the planet.

"Okay."

With that the both of them sit down in the sand. It's actually quite comfortable. Most of the time sand is either too hot or too cold to sit on, but this is perfect. Together with the ocean and the fact there is almost no one around, it makes an incredibly gorgeous scenery. Elli doesn't want to admit this out loud right away, but for the very first time since Julie went missing, she felt a flicker of peace.

She never would have thought she'd get here. Sitting on a beach next to Reggie would have been a dream come true a few weeks ago. Maybe all of this is a dream. No. It's not a dream. This is reality. In real life nothing is ever black or white and this right here isn't black or white. This right here is real.

"I have another idea", Reggie says a bit later, which made Elli look away from the ocean, so she could look at him, "Let's write a song."

This catches Elli off guard. Why would he ask that? Does he know about her writing songs? He couldn't, could he? Maybe he just thinks that because Julie is amazing at music. He could think that because he doesn't really know Elli yet. Right? Elli can't think of another good reason how he would know or why he would ask.
