looking out for you ( finn )

TODAY WAS LIKE MOST DAYS i enjoyed having, the comforting feeling of joy and love lingered in the air as finn and i sat together in my bed. my head was resting upon his lanky shoulder peacefully. nighttime rain drops made gentle noise outside, soothing to the ears that were ours. i wouldn't give up precious moments like these for anything.

"y/n," he told me. "i have to tell you something."

i took my head of his shoulder so i was able to focus my attention completely on him.

"yes?"

he smiled and fumbled with his fingers. "i'm going to ask her out."

my heart dropped to my stomach hearing those five words fall from his lips. i furrowed my brows and squinted my eyes a bit. "sherry?"

"y-yeah," he stammered. "i really like her, you know?"

i forced a smile. "yeah, go for it."

in my mind, i really wanted to say something across the lines of, "have you not seen how much i love you finn? how much i've been looking out for you? when will it be my turn, when will you love me?"

it doesn't matter though, all these thoughts were for a boy who will never know they're about him, and i know it's stupid but, i'm too shy to tell him.
