"WE NEED TO TALK," i blurted nervously, watching mike as he was counting some coins from his piggy bank. my fingers fidgeted as he looked at me in confusion and worry, probably aware of what i was going to say next.

"about what?" he asked with a frown. i sighed as i looked down at my shoes, unable to look mike in the eyes after what i was going to say.

"i want to break up with you mike. i don't think we should be together anymore," i said lowly, but bluntly.

"y/n-"

"no mike. listen. at the beginning of our relationship, it was so fun, remember? we'd hang out with our friends all day, then stay up all night, and then do it over and over again because it never got old."

he furrowed his eyebrows. "and we still do, though. what are you getting at, y/n? i can't lose you, i love you!"

i sighed. "and i love you too mike but what happened to the butterflies?  because i don't feel them and i know you don't either. i know you love me but i also know you're in love with el and i don't want to be the one who stops you two from being happy. i'm willing to take this turn before we both crash and burn because that could be the death of us and i'm not sure if we'd be friends after that. so please mike, let me go."

"y-y/n," he croaked, clearly fighting back his tears. "i love you. and if i have to let you go, i guess this is the end of us."

"yes mike, it is. bye, i love you."

"i love you too," he smiled weakly before watching me walk out of his room, and most likely for the last time.
