"Leila who's that?" my friend question while putting to someone behind me.
I turned around fast my breath hitching and my body freezing into spot. I looked at the tall guy in the neon blue shirt and I recognized him immediately. It can't be him, right? He left 3 years ago to transfer to another school. He can't come back now. Why today?
"I don't know who that guy is now come on we're late," I grimly answered as I walked away fast to my class.
On the outside I was calm and collected but on the inside my thoughts was taking over my mind. Why is he back? Does he remember me? Is he back for good? Is he enrolling back to the school? Is he in my class? My thoughts were broken as I ran into something
"Leila, are you okay?" my teacher asked me as she steadied
"Yeah I'm sorry there's a lot on my mind," I apologized looking up at her before walking into the classroom quickly
I quickly sat down in my seat as I tried to calm down and clear my thoughts about him. But, I couldn't focus since next to my seat a group of girls were chattering away about him. I looked at them annoyed at their bickering, but they didn't seem to notice me glaring at them as they kept talking with their pitchy voices. I closed my eyes and tried to forget the fact that I saw him today. I finally relaxed when the teacher came in the classroom and closed the door. I ignored the girls that were talking about him and got out my books for class, while listening to the teacher call out attendance.
"Ashley,"
"Brenda,"
"Cassandra," I zoned out as I heard the soft mumbles of the girls and the loud replies of the guys.
"Leila," I shot up in my seat looking up to see everyone staring at me.
"Pardon?" I mumbled shyly looking at the teacher avoiding the teacher's eyes.
"Sophie," the teacher called out the next name for attendance.
I blushed and looked down at my book, trying to hide from everyone's gaze. I pulled out my phone and hid it behind my books, I scrolled through the pictures on Instagram. My eyes burned with fresh tears as I saw dozens of pictures uploaded of him and his friends with welcome back messages. I kept the tears at bay as I took my time looking at how he changed through the years. As I kept scrolling down the Instagram feed I saw a picture that caught my attention. It was a small collage on his account that's filled with pictures from his previous year. I looked through all of them paying attention to everyone that was in the pictures till one small picture caught my eye. It was a picture taken on his last day of the class party, I was standing next to him both of us grinning like maniacs. I smiled and blinked letting a single tear drop roll down my cheek, quickly I raised my hand and excused myself as I ran down the hall barging into the bathroom. I went into one of the empty stalls and sat down allowing myself to cry. I sobbed quietly while thinking about my feelings about him.
"He doesn't care about me, he left with no goodbye," I mumbled to myself repeating it again and again.
"Leila are you okay," I heard one of my friends whisper to me outside my stall.
"I'm fine," I sniffed wiping away my tears.
I stood up and walked out of my bathroom stall, washing my face before leaving the bathroom.
I quickly walked back to the classroom just as the teacher was dismissing everyone. I ducked and grabbed my bag, avoiding everyone as I walked out of the classroom going to my locker.
"I can't believe hes back," I heard some girls whisper to each other as they walked past me.
I groaned walking faster as I neared my locker. I stuffed my bag into my locker and got out enough money to buy lunch. On my way to the cafeteria I ran into one of my bestest friends,Chloe.
" Leila did you see the new guy?" Chloe asked
"Yes I saw him." I said with a boring tone walking straight.
"Isn't he cute?" Chloe questioned pushing me for answers.
"I guess so," I mumbled even though in my mind I was screaming ' Yes! '
"Leila what is going on," she stopped me right before I walked into the cafeteria.
"Nothing everythings fine ," I looked up at her as she dragged me into the bathroom.
"Leila," Chloe looked at me confused.
"I'm fine just hungry," I walked out the bathroom fast sitting at the lunch table I always sit at.
I asked one of my friends to save my spot while I went and stood in line. As i waited I heard some guys talking behind me.
" You missed so much," one of the guys said I didn't hear a reply.
"How was your old school," another guy asked.
"It was fine," I heard a deep voice reply back. The voice made me freeze in my spot I looked back discreetly from the side of my eye and panicked when I saw him right behind me. I skipped in front of a few people and grabbed a burger. After paying I ran to my table and sat hiding my face.
"Leila are you okay?" one of my friends asked.
"Yeah I'm fine," I answered back my voice muffled by my arm.
They didn't ask any more questions as they talked about random topics that popped up. I just sat there and hid while eating my lunch. My thoughts were going crazy thinking he almost saw me. Maybe he did see me,but he just didn't recognize me. After I finished my lunch the bell rang signaling lunch was over. I got up and walked to the cafeteria exit door alone looking down trying to hide from everyone.
"Ow!" I winced as I knocked into the wall.
"I'm so sorry are you okay?" a deep voice asked babbling apologies.
I shot up and looked up at the tall guy standing in front of me,
"Elliot?"
