"I wrote it!"

He wrote the note.

It was him.

He was the liar.

Connor wasn't his friend.

A couple moments of talking went by, a faulty explanation for all the lies he had done. All the people he's betrayed: Jared, Alana, Heidi, Zoe, hell, even Connor.

After that entire conversation with the Murphy's, with him getting kicked out of the house with their disapproving glances, he left to the orchard.

Not because he felt like he deserved there, because he didn't. But something in his gut just begged him to go.

Go to the orchard.

Go to the orchard.

Why? Evan wasn't sure.

He just had to go.

Soon, he arrived. He walked out of the car, hesitantly walking deeper and deeper inside it. And believe it or not? There was a pretty big oak tree in there. And surprisingly, Evan could estimate it being around forty feet.

"It's about time you actually came here."

Evan's eyes widened with shock. Right in front of him? This... transparent image of Connor stood on the ground, crossing his arms.

"H-how? You're- you're dead, how-?" Evan asked, shaking his head. "I'm going crazy."

"Did you think I was a figment of your imagination?" Connor questioned, glancing over at him. "You really are stupid."

"I-" Evan backed up a little. "I guess so..."

"So. You fucked up everything," Connor replied, placing a hand on his hip. "Why did you lie anyways?"

"Y-you don't know?"

"I just told you I'm not a figment of your imagination, and I'm definitely not in your head. So no, of course not," Connor started. "I mean, it's not like when I died I knew you were going to lie to my broken parents."

"Oh," Evan sighed. "Well, I had my cast, and uh- your name was on it, and- and they found the letter on you, so... they figured..."

"And you didn't say no?" Connor asked.

"I- I'm sorry! They just looked so sad, and I couldn't just not say something!"

"So you lied." Connor glared at him, causing Evan to back up a bit. Connor looked pretty pissed off, and honestly, Evan couldn't blame him. "You lied, and said that I was your best friend, only to crush them more once they found out."

"I... I didn't think it through," Evan replied, looking down at the ground. "Look, I know I fucked up! Okay? I- I... I know I did, and I'd do anything to change it."

"Anything?" Connor asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Anything."

"So even if I told you there was a way for me to bring you back in time, you'd still be down?"

Evan couldn't help but laugh. "Back in time? You're insane."

"Oh, but I'm not." Connor smirked. "When I died I was awoken to a ton of alternate timelines. All we'd be doing to this one if I brought you back was restart it."

"Restart a timeline?" Evan asked. "Connor, that's impossible."

"Okay, well, going back to the past would technically be the future of this timeline," Connor shrugged. "But it wouldn't effect the other ones."

"Are you positive? Because I highly doubt that's true," Evan said, seeing his fair share of Marvel to know that time travel had a ton of other factors that Connor probably wasn't smart enough to understand.

"Evan, are you going to trust me, or not?"

"Why would I? I- I don't know you," Evan replied, knowing it was about time he admitted that.

Evan and Connor weren't friends. They didn't know each other well. That was the truth.

"Uhm, because I'm dead?" Connor asked. "And I have nothing better to do than help you at this rate? I mean, you're the only person who has seen me so far."

"How can I see you and not..." Evan thought for a bit before listing out names. "Cynthia, or Zoe, or Larry, or- anyone?"

"Probably because you knew 'me' better than they did," Connor shrugged. "But you didn't know me. At all."

"Exactly! So do I get to have conversations with you because I'm a liar?" Evan questioned, more of a rhetorical question than anything.

Connor answered it seriously, though. "Guess so."

"Oh."

"Yep."

"So... back in time?" Evan asked. "You sure you're not insane about this?"

"I think so," Connor replied, looking over at him.

"You think so?"

"Yup," Connor said, giving him a sarcastic smile.

"Now I get what Zoe meant by how annoying you were."

"That was error number one about Jared Kleinman's letters," Connor shrugged. "I embrace the fact that I'm an annoying little bitch. Jared made it seem like I wanted to fix that."

Evan frowned. "Hey, Jared and I wrote those together. Don't blame it on him."

"You know he vented in those letters, right? And just pretended that it was my feelings on the paper, when in reality, they were his?" Connor asked. "God, my parents probably think I'm like Kleinman now."

"He- what?" Evan's eyes widened with shock, remembering now how vivid Connor's feelings seemed in those letters. "He- he didn't, you wouldn't know that!"

"Congratulations, Evan." Connor smirked. "You're such a bad friend that you ditched your only one."

"I-" He started thinking over everything he fucked up. Every little action to every biggest one. Alana. Heidi. Zoe. Jared. Evan glanced at Connor, a new hint of determination in his eyes. "Bring me back in time."
