Someone requested this forever ago so yeah. I didn't really know where to go with this or how to end it but here you go I guess.
Rosa and Jake had went to the precinct to shower and change before meeting the others at the bar. Amy and Cody hadn't seen their respective partners in several months.
Where Amy was over the moon Cody was dreading it. Sure she was excited to see Rosa of course she was, but her mental and physical health had deteriorated severely. She supposed this is how Rosa felt when she was away on duty.
Jake entered Shaws first, Amy attacking him in a hug that blocked Rosa from entering further. Out of the corner of her eye Cody could see Rosa trying to look over them to find Cody among the crowd.
You see while Rosa had been away Cody slipped back into her old habits, eating to little or too much and then purging, and that was if she ate at all. Most days she survived solely on coffee. Mug after mug of strong black coffee. That and vaping, while it didn't quite give the same kick as an actual cigarette could it was as close as Cody was going to let herself get. After all she was an army major for god sake, she could survive a few months without her girlfriend without completing falling apart.
"Uh guys can you like move? I'd kinda like to see my girlfriend." Rosa snarled as she crossed her arms, Amy and Jake still hadn't released each other.
"Oh right sorry Rosa." Jake chuckled using the hand on the small of Amy's back to pull her out the way.
"Rosa. Before you go talk to Cody I just- she didn't-" Amy started, she couldn't find the words to explain this to Rosa.
"Spit it out Santiago!" Rosa snapped.
"She didn't cope too well with you being away. She hasn't really been taking care of herself." Amy said, still in Jake's arms.
Rosa nodded solemnly and walked over to where Cody was standing. Cody smiled at Rosa though Rosa could see it wasn't genuine. She doubted any of the smiles Cody had put on the past few months were genuine. "Hey."
One word. One damn word had came out Rosa's mouth and Cody was already choking back tears. Rosa pulled the other girl into her arms. "I missed you Rosie." Cody said, her voice breaking.
"How many layers you got on Codes?"
"Four." Cody mumbled her answer in Rosa's ear. Rosa pulled back and held Cody at arms length. "Cody you've got four layers on and I can still feel your ribs." Rosa said moving her hand to affectionately cup Cody's cheek. "Why didn't you tell anyone?"
"I didn't want to seem weak. I didn't want to seem like you left and I completely fell apart." Cody shrugged. Rosa nodded and pulled Cody's face into to meet hers, their lips meeting for the first time in months.
As Rosa walked into her and Cody's shared apartment the first thing she noticed was the sickly sweet smell that seemed to be radiating from everywhere but was concentrated around their bedroom window. The sickly sweet smell she associated with Cody's vape. She hadn't smelt it in years.
Sure enough there on the bedside cabinet was Cody's vape pen. "Codes." Rosa called. Cody appeared at the bedroom door. "I thought you stopped smoking?" Rosa asked, twirling the pen between her fingers.
"I did. It's low nicotine, just enough to survive but not enough to do much real damage. Ain't like an actual cigarette." Cody tried to reason.
"Cody." Rosa put the pen down and moved to cup Cody's cheeks.
"Like I said I fell apart without you here."
