After dinner, I made a cup of chamomile tea while Jeremy went into the living room to watch some sport. I went up to my office and settled into the couch and messaged Michael. I had intended on just playing a few games before going to bed, but we ended up talking for a while.

Eventually, we ended up on Instagram. He gave me his username, and I found him.

H: Is this better?

M: Yeah. At least I know who I'm talking to now.

I smiled as I thought about how to respond.

H: Were you worried I was an old guy or something?

I went to his profile and clicked on the most recent picture.

My jaw literally fell as I looked at him. I don't know what I was expecting, but I wasn't expecting THAT!

M: You never know, it's the internet. But you absolutely are not an old guy.

I couldn't help the smile that spread across my face.

H: Well, you aren't too bad yourself.

As soon as I sent it, I realized how flirty it was. Chewing my cheek I anxiously awaited his reply. The three dots popped up that he was replying.

M: Do you want to vent? I'm all ears.

H: I don't know. I don't want to just unload my problems onto you...

M: Everyone needs to be able to vent. Come on. I can take it.

Hesitating for only a second, I started to type.

H: It's just a lot of little things.

M: Like what?

H: I feel like I'm constantly irritating him.

M: That's not really a little thing. What is it that you think irritates him?

H: Well, a few days ago I got a new faucet for the kitchen sink. It hadn't been working right for a while. I asked him to replace it yesterday, and I know it was during a football game he wanted to watch, but the faucet had been broken for weeks. I wanted it to be fixed before we had to go back to work for the week. I don't know how to do that kind of stuff. I know he wants to watch the game, but he was really irritated that I asked him to fix the faucet.

I re read my message a few times and couldn't help but feel like I was complaining over nothing. I just sound pathetic.

M: Hmm...

Well that doesn't help anything.

H: What?

M: I think part of being an adult is doing the things that need to be done. You shouldn't have to even ask him to do it. The fact that it was broken for weeks is a whole different issue.
