Saturday afternoon I started to get ready to head over to Sam's house. We were originally just going to stay at her place and watch movies, but I wanted to spoil her. I still felt guilty for not being there as much as I should have as her Maid of Honor, so I'm taking her to dinner.

After straightening my hair and doing my makeup, I went into my closet to find something to wear. We were going to a nicer place, but it wasn't necessary to dress formally. Looking through the dresses I had, I pulled down a soft yellow dress. It was floor length, sleeveless, and had a deep V neckline.

Stepping into the dress, I zipped the back, and found a pair of nude heels to wear with it

Stepping into the dress, I zipped the back, and found a pair of nude heels to wear with it. Walking out to the bedroom, I put on some jewelry and put my phone in my purse. Jeremy was sitting on the couch watching a game when I passed him. He didn't look at me or say anything when I picked up my bag to leave. Letting out a long sigh, I walked out to my Tahoe, and left. When I pulled into the driveway at Sam's house, she was already waiting for me on the porch.

"You're letting me borrow that dress." Sam said matter of factly as I walked up the steps.

"My closet is your closet, you know that." I said with a smile as I hugged her.

"Let me grab my purse, and put on shoes, and we can go." She said as we walked inside.

"What else do you want to do tonight?" I asked her as she collected her things.

"I figured the normal."

"Wine and a movie?" I asked.

"What else?" She said as she laughed.

I reserved a quiet table next to a window at the restaurant, and when we were seated, I ordered a bottle of Merlot for us.

"Is it weird to say that it all feels different now?" Sam asked.

"No." I said softly, "It is different. Marriage changes so many things."

Thankfully the waitress came back just then to take our orders. When she left, I topped off our wine glasses, and took a sip.

"Are you ok?" Sam asked hesitantly.

Setting my glass down, I took a deep breath as I looked at her, "We don't need to talk about me. This is a night of celebrating you."

"No, tonight is about us spending time together. And part of that is us talking about life." She said as she waited for a reply from me, that I didn't give. "What's going on Harper?"

"It's nothing. Just the same stuff as always." I said picking up my glass again.

"That's a lie." She said without hesitation.

"I guess it's just all starting to pile up."

"I still think you guys need to go to counseling. I just don't know how to convince Jeremy to go." Sam said.
