My alarm went off about ten minutes ago, but I didn't have the heart to wake up Harper. She was laying on my chest with one of her legs draped over mine. Gently rubbing her back, I wrapped my arms around her and rolled to my side as she started to stir.

"Don't tell me you have to get up." She said as she settled back into my chest.

"I wish I didn't have to." I said, kissing her head.

"Well, things will calm down after MIA is released tomorrow." She said.

"Let's do dinner tonight." I said as I rolled her onto her back and hovered above her. "I'll make reservations."

She smiled as she looked up at me, "Yes! That sounds amazing!"

"Be ready at 6." I said as I lowered down to her and kissed her.

It took everything I had to pull away and get out of bed. This whole week has been stressful, and I was ready to be able to just spend time with Harper. After showering I quickly got dressed and kissed Harper one last time before running out the door. I was barely going to make it to work on time, but it was worth every second I was able to hold her in bed.

Pulling into the parking garage, I pulled into a free space next to the main door, and walked inside. There wasn't much of a line at the coffee shop thankfully.

Stepping off the elevator on the 22nd floor, I could feel the stress. Everyone was in a hurry and I was barely able to slip into my office without being noticed. Sitting at my desk, I sipped my coffee as I looked for a restaurant for tonight. Finding a little Italian place, I made reservations for us at 6:30.

Unfortunately the rest of the day was absolute chaos. I had several meetings throughout the day, and some of them didn't go as planned.

Then there were issues popping up all over the place with actually getting the game out. We don't sell it as a hard copy, it is only available online as a download. There were issues with the website and as soon as one problem was fixed, another would show up.

Several of us were sitting in a conference room for hours trying to get to the bottom of all the issues.

"I guess I'll order pizza." I heard Elijah say next to me.

"What?" I asked, looking over at him.

"It's already six, and we're going to be here for a while." he said, motioning to the clock on the wall.

My head snapped to look at the clock.

"Fuck." I said as I put my head in my hands.

Letting out a long sigh, I kicked my chair back.

"I'll be back in a minute." I said as I walked out of the conference room and into my office.

Locking the door behind me, I sat down at my desk, and called Harper.

"Hey." She said, in her beautiful, soft voice.

"Hi." I said with a sigh. "I'm so sorry, but we're having a lot of issues here and I'm not going to make it home in time." I said, hating the words as they came out of my mouth.

"Oh, ok. That's ok. We can just go another night." she said.

"No, it's not ok. I promised you dinner, and now I can't follow through." I said, rubbing my head.

"Babe, it really is ok. It's a huge day for you, and there is a lot on the line. We'll just go another night. I love you, and I'll see you soon."

"I love you too. I'm so sorry..." I said just before hanging up.
