Harper and Mason had been in the Kitchen for a while when I excused myself from the living room and decided to go see what they were doing. I peeked around the corner and stayed quiet as I just watched Mason hand Harper a bottle of water.
"Harper..." Mason said as he crossed his arms and looked at her.
Harper hesitated before slowly looking up at him.
"I fucking knew it!" Mason said in hushed excitement.
Not wanting to eavesdrop any more I walked the rest of the way into the kitchen and made my presence known by clearing my throat.
"Knew what?" I asked innocently as I stood behind Harper and wrapped my arms around her waist.
Mason just gave me a sinister smile before looking back at Harper.
"Tell me I'm right." He said as he straightened his shoulders.
I knew Harper wanted to tell everyone and she was struggling to keep it quiet. But I also know that she wanted to keep it just between us, for now, in the event that something were to go wrong. Leaning against the counter I pulled her into my chest.
"It's ok to be excited and tell him." I whispered to her. She looked up at me concerned, and I knew exactly what she was thinking. "He's your brother. He will always be there for you, and there is no reason to be concerned at this point." I said as I moved the hair out of her face and tucked it behind her ear. She leaned into my hand as she gave me a small smile.
Stepping out of my arms, she walked past Mason and into our bedroom. She came back out a second later holding the ultrasound picture close to her body so no one would know what it was.
"Sam?" She said softly.
"Yeah?" Sam said, looking over at her.
"Come here." Harper said, motioning with her head to come into the kitchen.
Sam and Carter followed Harper back into the kitchen, and we were all standing around the island.
"What's going on?" Carter asked as he looked around at everyone.
Harper was chewing on her lip as she thought about how to even start.
"We've had a really eventful week." I said, unable to keep myself from smiling.
Harper slowly reached out her hand and laid the ultrasound picture on the counter face up. She had barely let go of the picture before Mason had made it around the counter to scoop her up into a massive bear hug.
"Oh my god..." Sam said as she covered her mouth.
She stepped to the other side of the counter and picked up the ultrasound. She looked at our tiny baby as her eyes filled with tears.
"Congratulations." Carter said as he reached out his hand.
"Thank you." I said as we shook.
"I really wanna hug Harper, but I don't think Mason is going to let go of her any time soon..." Sam said as she looked over at Mason still hugging Harper tightly as her feet dangled., "So can I hug you?"
I laughed at the size difference between Mason and Harper before nodding to Sam and opening my arms. She gave me a hug and when she let go, she looked at the ultrasound picture again with Carter. Turning to look at Harper, Mason still had her tight in his arms. I couldn't help but start to laugh again at the sight. Mason must have heard me, because he reached out one arm to me and made a grabby motion for me to join their hug. As soon as he was able to grab my shirt he pulled me in and hugged me tightly as well.
