“Will he be fine?” Lillian asked clenching her hands.
“Just cool down Lillian, he will be fine, he is not a kid.” Ben said
“It’s my fault, I should have stopped him.” Owen said shaking his head.
“Stop whom from doing what?” They heard a voice say and turned around to see Tris standing there.
“Tris? Oh my god” Lillian said standing up and moving towards her but stop when Tris moved back. “How did you come here?”
“I ran without telling Liam. I am here because my heart told me to give you one chance. I just want to know the truth.” Tris said without looking at Lillian.
“Yes, yes, Tris. Come on sit down.” Owen said sitting down himself.
“Tell me, the truth this time.” Tris said after they all settled down.
“After so many foster families abandoned me, I finally met dad. He was a gang leader so he allowed me to join the gang. We, me and TJ, became the main members of gang V. Then one day when we entered my house, my dad was scared of something but he refused to talk. So we followed him to the mansion. You and Liam were playing in the backyard. We were hiding behind the tree when we heard a gunshot and saw dad was on the floor, bleeding and you dad was standing with the riffle. We hurried out of the bush and Liam entered from the back door. I recognized the bag in his hand and I knew it was dad’s but I stayed rooted on my spot. But when he started pointing his gun at TJ, who was trying to get the bag, I…I shot him.” Lillian said as tears rolled down her chin.
Owen kept staring at the wall in front of him as anger filled his eyes while Ben stared at his shoes.
Everything was still and quite until finally they heard shuffling of feet and saw Tris hugging Lillian tightly as tears rolled down both of their faces.
“Why did you never tell me?” Tris whispered after some time, not breaking the hug.
“I was… scared. I am so sorry Tris, I regret it the most in my life.” Lillian said wiping her tears.
“He deserbved it.” Tris said but Lillian shook her head.
“Tris, you dad was not a good person or a good partner but he was the best dad out there. He loved you and Liam spo much. I was broken when I saw Liam running away, leaving you behind. I knew what I did was wrong.”
“I am sorry for shouting at you” Tris said and Lillian gave her a weary smile, hugging her tighter till they heard Deb clear his throat.
“We are here too you know.” She said smiling as Tris ran in to her arms and hugged her and then turned to embrace Ben and Owen too.
“Where is Liam?” Tris asked as realization hit all of them.
“Nooooo” Deb said as she rushed out of door and everyone followed her outside.
