“Now, for the first dance, the bride and the groom everybody.” Someone announced.
“Shall we?” TJ asked offering his hand to Tris who took it immediately.
“Too bad we can’t dance.” Owen said indicating his hand.
“Oh, that’s fine, I don’t dance.” Lillian answered
“Well done, shall we?” Ben asked and Lillian started protesting but gave in moving to the dance floor.
Owen smiled at them and felt a nudge on his shoulder.
“You must be Owen.” A lady said, she was old looking, maybe 48-50 and had a bob cut. “I am Laura, Liam’s mother”
“Oh my god, Mrs William, hello.” Owen said shaking her hand.
“I just wanted to thank you and your friends for giving me my baby back and for the job. I owe you one.” She said giving him a sweet hug.
“Wow, the pleasure is all ours ma’am.” Owen answered
“Oh, call me Laura dear.” She said giving his cheeks soft pat.
“Laura” Deb called and made her way through the crowd to her. “You met Owen, I see. Isn’t she great Owen?”
“She is and I am so glad you worked out things with Liam, I truly am.” Owen answered
“Okay, time for friends photograph.” Deb said dragging Owen to the stage.
They stood themselves, posing for the photograph and Liam looked around him. His beautiful wife beside him, Lillian on his other hand with Owen to her side and Ben and Tris next to Deb with Tj in front, on the ground. It was perfect. He could see his mother wiping tears from her eyes and smiled to himself. He got everything from just a small misunderstanding. Who could have guessed? Serendipity it is, indeed.
