"Fuck!" Tobias cursed, jumping up and dragging Gabriel inside with Connor's help. He hated having to disregard his beta's wounds, but there was a nearly extinct pack at risk and right now they were more important.
Esmeray's body trembled as her senses went on high alert, her eyes glinting. She could hear the growling and yipping of both battle and of pain. She looked at Connor. "I'm going out there."
"Same. See you on the other side," Connor nodded and rushed out the door, running toward the sounds of the fighting.
Esmeray tried to follow him but got jerked back by Tobias. He looked deep into her eyes, his own glinting. "Be safe. I can't lose you."
"I will," Esmeray answered, her pulse thudding within her as her body prepared to fight.
"If anything happens to you, I swear I'll rip the throats of all those fuckers and they'll wish they'd never been born." He leaned in and gave her a rough kiss. The set of his jaw spoke of his determined protectiveness and he sighed, letting go of her arm. "Now go, go protect your pack."
Esmeray didn't need any further encouraging. With a show of her fangs and a growl, she stalked her way outside. She may now be the Luna of the Nyght pack, but at this moment, her loyalty lay with her bloodline, the Blackfang.
The moment Esmeray set foot into the cabin that held the sick, a half-shifted Bloodborne male gripped her with his clawed hands and pinned her to the ground. She struggled under him, dodging his bites at her throat until suddenly his weight left her.
"Go to hell," Tobias growled out to the male and he lifted the struggling Bloodborne into the air and throwing him against the wall. He pulled Esmeray up before getting sideswiped by another Bloodborne.
Esmeray growled, her eyes gleaming as she prepared to pounce but she was jumped on herself, her body hitting the floor. The air left her lungs in a whoosh and she struggled to breath, a silent scream leaving her lips as fangs sunk deep into the back of her shoulder. She felt the grip of claws in her side and gasped, taking in a deep a breath as she could. She struggled under her attacker and pushed herself up with her hands, growling as the Bloodborne on her back flipped her.
"Ah, the Nyght alpha's bitch," growled the blood covered Bloodborne female as she pressed her weight into Esmeray. "Mmm you smell good, just like him."
"Shut the hell up," Esmeray snapped, using all her power to kick the female off, showing her canines. She didn't give the female time to recover before she pounced on her and bit deep into her throat, feeling the warmth of blood filling her mouth.
The Bloodborne female struggled under Esmeray and clawed at Esmeray's body. As seconds passed, her movements grew fainter and fainter until they ceased.
Esmeray pulled her fangs out and stood, half crouched and at the ready. To either side of her, Connor and Tobias were battling with their own Bloodborne. She lifted her gaze up and surveyed the carnage before a sight made her freeze. Her eyes widened as across the room a large half-shifted male held Nadia agaisnt the wall by her throat.
"Let her go, you bastard!" Esmeray called out, gaining her bearings before taking off toward the brute in a run.
Out of no where, a clawed hand grabbed ahold of Esmeray and jerked her so hard she stumbled. The Bloodborne smirked at her and she recognized him as the one who'd first attacked her. He twisted her arm and forced it around and agaisnt her back, enjoying her pained noises. "Not so fast."
Esmeray pulled agaisnt his grip, growling with effort. Her snarling turned to a whimper when he twisted her arm more and a wave of pain surged all the way up and through her shoulder.
He used his free hand to turn her face toward where Nadia was fighting to get air while the brutish male kept her pinned. He leaned close, his lips brushing agaisnt her ear. "Watch, and learn how the Bloodborne deal with their enemies. Gnash, kill that bitch."
"With pleasure," Gnash responded with a cruel laugh.
Esmeray's pulse throbbed in her temples when her eyes met the fearful one of Nadia's. Her wolf reached out to Nadia and she cried out as Gnash's claws ripped Nadia's throat out. She saw the crimson flow down Nadia's chest and her senses flooded with grief. A sudden thought of partially blind little Myra awakened the beast within and she let out a savage growl before reaching back with her free hand and clawing her captor's eye.
The male screamed and let go of Esmeray, grabbing at his face as blood seeped from under his hand. He pointed a finger at Esmeray as Connor and Tobias raced past and grappled with Gnash. "I'm gonna get you for this!"
"Good luck," Esmeray sneered, circling him like a wolf does its prey. She ignored the needle-like pain in her body from the wounds she had and the sounds of the two alphas battling it out with the giant half-shifted Bloodborne. Her head tilted and a dangerous edge gleamed in her eyes while she circled, taking in everything she could about her lanky opponent. She saw her opportunity when the Bloodborne swiped at her and she gripped his wrist. In one smooth movement, she pulled him close and pushed her canines into the yielding flesh of his throat. She felt the flood of blood and with it the unmistakable metallic tang. With a jerk of her head, she opened his throat and pulled back, hearing the bubbling sounds of his struggled breathing. She let go of him and watched him slump to the floor and writhe as blood flowed from him.
"Esmeray, here!" Connor called from behind, snapping Esmeray's attention to where he and Tobias held the Goliath Bloodborne pinned agaisnt the wall.
Esmeray walked slowly, her eyes completely glowing as she made her way through the bodies to the struggling and pinned Gnash. Her bloody lips parted and she tasted his fear, her canines showing through. She gripped Gnash's hair and forced his head back, her other hand reaching up and wrapping around his neck tightly. She watched him fight to breathe, all her usual remorse for being so cold now gone. Gnash would get what he deserved, she'd make sure of it. She leaned in close, taking in one more deep breath through her parted lips.
"This is for Nadia," she growled at Gnash, her claws digging into his throat. She pulled forcefully, ripping his throat wide open as he gurgled and squirmed. She let go of his hair and tilted her head at him, taking a step back. "If I could kill you again, I would. Consider yourself lucky."
Tobias shared a look with Connor and they released their grip on Gnash. As Gnash's heavy body thudded agaisnt the floor, Tobias stepped up to Esmeray. She was covered in so much blood he wasn't sure what was hers and what wasn't. "Are you okay?"
"Does she look okay?" Connor gesgured to Esmeray with raised eyebrows.
"I'm okay. . . ." Esmeray wiped some blood off her pale face, her heart. pulsing oddly. She looked up to meet Tobias's concerned gaze, and his scratched face was the last thing she saw before her world went black.
