I came around on my bed, with Connor watching me intently. I sat up and the room span, I had the headache from hell. The curtains were drawn, I was thankful for that.

'What happened?' I asked, my voice was croaky, like I had been asleep for hours.

'You passed out. You've been asleep for a good few hours, Luke.'

'Who carried me upstairs?' I asked.

'That'd be me.' He admitted.

'I almost forgot I need to talk to you.' I told him.

'What about?' He asked.

'Why did you break up with Sherl- I mean, Crystal?'

'I wasn't happy. I only agreed to date her in the first place to maintain my reputation and to stop everyone from whining. But I'm in my last year, so it's not necessary for me to keep up the facade.'

'Fair enough, but you do realise she's under the impression that it has something to do with me, right?'

'What? Why would she think that?'

'She calls it, womanly intuition.' I seered the phrase and we both laughed.

'It has nothing to do with you, Luke. I promise. I'll take care of her.'

'Be careful. From the way she spoke to me, I think she's a serial killer.'

'Trust me, Luke. She's more likely a cereal killer of coco-pops than a serial killer of people.'

'I hope you're right, because if you're not, you'll be sorry.' I joked.

'Anyway, we're gonna have to talk about this at some point, and I think it's best we get it out of the way. What are you gonna do about your dad?'

'I'm gonna see him.' I said, finality in my voice. 'It's all I can do. I think, after 7 years, dying or not, he needs to give me some answers. I need to know why he left, and where he went. I spent a year thinking he'd come back, then a few thinking he didn't love me or my mum, and after that I thought he was happy and healthy elsewhere. Now even that's been shattered. I need to know the truth Connor.'

'I understand. Want me to take you? Or would you rather your mum take the day off work?'

'In all honesty? I don't really care. I'd rather go with you though. My mum might want to come in with me, and I think it's best I see him alone.'

'In that case I'll take you, whenever your ready, but make sure it's soon, you don't exactly have long.'

'I'll go tomorrow. It's saturday tomorrow right?'

'Yeah.'

'Then would you mind?'

'I have no other obligations now I've got rid of Crystal.' He laughed. 'I'll take you.' He promised.

'Oh and Connor?'

'Yeah?'

'Don't watch me when I'm sleeping, even if I have blacked out. It's creepy. Especially for my step-brother.' I watched his shocked face and laughed.

'Okay, I won't.' He promised. 'Does that mean I can watch you when you're awake?' He asked, jokingly.

'Oh, I'm not sure you could resist.' I winked and he just looked at me like a deer caught in headlights. 'I'm joking Connor, don't start having kittens.'
