Mornings were meant to be easeful, the time where a person would admire the sun that graced down upon them and the earth─ shining rays of light much needed for those who couldn't find it within themselves.
This morning for Kakashi was far more dreading than any other, despite his mornings being continuously dreadful in the first place. This was a different kind, the suffocating kind─ he could feel sadness and fear crawl up his spine and shock his shoulders into stiffness. He felt fear for himself at this point, because even though Sakura's fate was set in stone, his had yet to be decided.
At least before, he was able to look himself in the mirror and see a proficient killer. Now, he sees himself as a murderer.
It wouldn't be so bad to die alongside her, he thought.
"You've been holding that bag for awhile, there's a shelf right there if you need one." Sasori opted, pointing his wooden finger towards the wooden shelf that resided only a few meters away from them.
Itachi shook his head. "Thank you Sasori-san, but I'll hold it."
The older wanted to say more, although all he did afterwards was nod and press his lips back together. He darted his chocolate eyes around and landed onto a masked man who kept his sole eye glued to the door of a dying pinkette.
Sasori was hurt, even in his wooden shell of hell and heartless body. So if he could feel this much pain when being a literal puppet, he genuinely couldn't configure how much pain Kakashi could possibly endure any further.
There was only so much a Shinobi could take, and only just a bit more that a prodigy like Kakashi could take─ but he knew that Sakura was the breaking point for him.
Today was their last day to see Sakura, and from the reports they'd received from Tsunade the night before, Sakura ought to take her last couple breaths towards the latter part of the day. No one could fathom the lumps that choked their throats─ she really was going to die.

"Where's Kabuto?"
Shizune glanced over her shoulder momentarily before continuing her paperwork by the counter of the room. "He informed me that he would be running late today, although when I asked for his reasoning he said it was something he couldn't really talk to me about." she mused, she found that rather strange on him. "Milady, I think it's okay to allow him to do that, right now the village is broken, he needs time away from that constant reminder. He's only 13, after all."
The blonde medic crossed her arms under her chest, keeping her eyes onto the pinkette who had finally freshened herself up and was prepared to see her visitors one last time.
"It's 9am, I'm expecting Kabuto to be back by 1pm." she ordered, with a reciprocation of a bow from her subordinate.
"I will send out a summoning to him an hour before 1pm, Milady."
Tsunade nodded before tightening her crossed arms, it was her response to the sudden smile that crept onto Sakura's lips. "Make the most of what you've been given, Sakura."
Sakura tied her brows but offered a closed eye smile to the woman who graced her with attempted freedom. "I will."
"Thanks ane-chan! This is going to make me the Hokage for sure!"
Tsunade brought her hands to the back of her own neck, biting her bottom lip. "Before that door opens, I have something to give you." she said
"This'll make my dream come true, and it's all because of you!!" Nawaki bubbled, reddening by the second at the absolutely perfect gift he could have ever received.
