"Raven, wake up. You have school today" I hear James say, m y eyes flutter open to see James beaming done at me. "What makes you so happy today?" I say smiling at him. "Oh nothing, just the fact that today is February the 7th in other words your birthday." He beams down at me making me shoot up in bed. "Happy Birthday Raven!!" I grin up at James and Vincent. "OK, that's enough Vincent let's, let Raven get ready for school. Raven you have 10 minutes to get ready, sorry we let you sleep in." James said making his way out of the room. I sprint to the bathroom and strip my clothes, I lather on my chocolate scented shampoo and conditioner.
Just as my feet hit the last step James and Vincent practically dragged me to the kitchen. "You need to get your gifts first Raven." James chuckled. "Shouldn't I be the one excited?" I say, they both chuckle and lift me up to place me on the kitchen counter where there were some children looking and giggling. "OK for the first gift is this." Vincent says and hands me a set of keys with a key ring of a Toyota RAV4 SUV, I grin ear to ear.
"And this is from me." James said and hands me an IPhone 5s. "Everything is set up, all your contacts have been saved and stuff all you need to do is download things on it." James said. "I feel spoilt." I say, the boys grin. "Good." They say in unison. A man jogs in and addresses Vincent. "Alpha Vincent, a man is at the north border requesting to enter our territory. He is saying that his cousin is missing and has information that she is here, should I give him permission?"
"Hmm, give him permission to enter." Vincent said. "Can I drive to school?" I ask Vincent as soon as the man leaves. "Sure if you have a license." Vincent says, I jump off the counter and run to my room to grab my bag, I stop to admire myself in the mirror. Today I am wearing ripped sky blue jeans with a black long sleeve shirt that hugs my curves and hangs off one shoulder, I grab my sky blue hoodie for just in case. "Bye!!" I shout and leave not waiting for a reply, I jump into my car and pop in Taylor Swift's CD 1989.
I pull my car into an empty slot and climb out. On my way to the office I see a big crowd of people with two men fighting in the middle, I walk up to a blonde girl and ask. "What's going on?" The girl answers without turning in my direction."Oh Alpha Marcus and some dude are fighting-" She freezes and everyone sniffs the air and turn to me even the fight has stopped and I notice that everyone thinks I'm human and the girl spilled the beans. I turn on my heels and leave as the crowd parts for someone. "Hello, my name is Raven Mercier and I'm hear to collect my schedule." I say politely as I walk up to the desk. "Ah Miss. Mercier here is your schedule and locker number." The lady said, I thank her and walk off to my first class which is English my favourite.
I walk into the class just as the bell rings and the teacher turns to me. "Hello, you must be Miss. Mercier." He said warmly extending his hand for me to shake. "Yes I am." I say with a smile and give his hand a firm shake which makes his smile widen. "OK you will be sitting next to Samantha Trenton." He says and a blonde girl smiles and raises her hand for me to see. "Hi, I'm Samantha. What's your name?" She says just as I sit down.
"My name is Raven." I say and turn to the teacher. It's going to be hard to avoid Marcus and Levi, his wolf, since we got to the same school. Natalie said. I know and you have been awfully quiet today I reply. "Miss. Mercier I asked you a question." The voice of the teacher makes me snap out of my trance and I look at him. "I'm sorry I didn't quite get your question." I say, I'm great at making excuses. "I said can you spell-" He was cut off by Alpha Marcus walking in. Shit. I hear Natalie curse and with that she goes silent, I look down avoiding his eyes.
"Ah Alp- Marcus, why are you late?" Mr. Leask asks, I bite back a laugh at how he nearly called Marcus Alpha in front of me. "I was attending some important business Mr. Leask." He replies and walks past me clearly not noticing me. Good I thought.
The bell finally rang for lunch, I started to walk out of the room but Samantha stops me. "Do you want to have lunch with me?" She asks nervously I chuckle and ask her. "Samantha sorry for being blunt but are you a loner?" I hear a growl but choose to ignore it, she nods her head and says "I am a nerd so no one likes to hang out with me, unlike my brother Marcus everyone wants to hang out with him." My eyes widen at his name while another growl erupts into the hallway, I quickly mask it and smile down at her and say "I guess we have something in common now don't we?" I say and her eyes widen.
"What? Can't I be a nerd too?" I ask clearly amused. "No it's just you look like a social person unlike me, I'm one of those people that should be bullied but because of my brother I'm not." She said. This time 2 growls were let out 1 I knew was from Marcus and the other one I didn't know, by now everyone had stopped to listen to our conversation. "Hey don't think so low of yourself, your perfect. And plus being nerds means we are smarter than people, most popular girls are popular but they lack brains." I say the last bit a bit louder, and I hear lots of growls which makes me and Sam grin. "Come on I'm hungry." I say and link my arm with hers and pull her to the cafeteria.
"So Raven what is your favourite type- Hey Marcus" She said, my heart beat picks up. "Hey Sam I think I'm going to go to the library see ya" I quickly say and get up and walk away. "Don't walk away from me Raven." I hear Marcus yell. Do as he says Raven, Please. I hear Vincent beg. Just listen to him for once. James says. I will I promise it's just that I have lots of scars and if he sees them then he will be really angry and ready to kill, so I am waiting for them to heal. I explain looking directly at Vincent and James, they have a look of understanding on their faces. "Marcus, she has some stuff to do, she isn't ready for a relationship." Vincent explains.
"I don't fucking care, I just want my mate and I will have her." He uses his Alpha voice on Vincent which makes me flinch and it reminds me of my mother yelling at me which makes my eyes blurry with tears. James looks at me and notices the tears and waves at me to go I mouth 'thank you' to him and turn around. I started walking to the door but freeze when I see a man standing there, he has chocolate brown eyes like mine and lightly tanned skin. He stops and grins at me, his grin is contagious and I run up to him and jump into his arms. "You shouldn't of left like that Raven." He says to me making my head hang in shame.
"But if you're happy here then it's fine, I would've appreciated a simple text saying that you are okay." He said eyeing me over and over making three growls erupt throughout the room. "Sorry." I say and he grins triumphantly. "Don't get used to it Jake, I won't say it often." I say and cross my arms over my chest and smile in victory. He glares at me I wag both my eyebrows at him. "Happy Birthday Raven." He says and my eyes widen. "You remembered?" I gasp. "How can I forget your birthday?" He said tapping my nose making Marcus growl at him. Jake and I burst out laughing at Marcus's possessiveness.
I looked at Marcus to see him shaking in rage. "OK Jake that's enough fun let's go." I said pleading him to obey. "I'm older than you so you don't get to order me around." He said. "Well if you want to know more about my life then you will." I say, he thinks about it. "Ugh fine, wait I need permission to stay here." He says making his way to Vincent. "Way a head of you." I say running up to Vincent with Jake tagging behind looking confused. "Vincent." I ask. "Yes?" He asks.
"Can Jake stay here for a couple of days, please, pretty please." I plead in front of him giving him my best puppy dog eyes. "Plus I need to tell him stuff." I say giving him a look. "OK but first tell me how you know him?" He said. "Yeah." James and Marcus said in unison. "Well you see I love him." A dangerous growl erupts in the room and Marcus lunges at Jake but I jump in front of him stopping Marcus in his tracks.
"You didn't let me finish Marcus, I mean Alpha." I say. "What is there to explain?" He said, I look into his eyes, they were pitch black. "Jake.." I say stepping to Jake's side. "Is my cousin." I say trying to control my laughter but fail. I burst into a fit of laughter. Marcus relaxes and scratches the back of his neck giving me a nervous smile. "Um sorry." Marcus says. "Come on Jake, let's go catch up back at the house." I say and drag him to back to the pack house. He hops in his car while I hop in mine and lead the way to the pack house.
When we pull up I see the pups playing around and and jumping up and down making me smile at how carefree they are. "Come on, lets go inside." I say and he follows. We sit on my freshly made bed and I start my story from my mothers death to my birthday.
