Two weeks came by pretty quickly. We had started filming about a week ago and the fact that I had got so wrapped up with it made the week go by a little quicker. It was the day that I finally was able to see my family for the first time in forever (eight months) and to say I was excited would've been an understatement. We arranged it so that I stayed with my parents and sister from tomorrow and everyone else was getting a hotel.
I hoped it wouldn't be awkward between us. We Skype and called each other regularly so the tension should not have be too bad. In fact, I recently texted my dad and told him to inform everyone about Calum coming with me.
Deciding what to wear was a chore itself. I looked through my suitcases after having a shower and found a pair on maroon leggings with a grey and blue printed jumper that was perfect for this cold weather. I didn't remember packing the jumper myself so Calum must've put it in there for me. I applied some concealer and foundation then some mascara and eyeliner.
I was actually really nervous. Have I changed in eight months? I mean, I've dyed my hair a lighter shade but apart from that I haven't made any drastic changes.
Walking down the stairs from the room to the lobby was harder than it should've been. But since Calum was joining me, my nerves were calming. I saw Calum standing near the front desk scrolling on his phone. "Ready to go?" I asked.
Calum closed his phone and nodded at me. We pulled on our sunglasses, ready for any paparazzi attacks. We jumped in the cab (here I am for the first time) and gave the address to the driver. Calum subtly reached over and rested his palm on my shaking hands. "Don't be nervous. It's not like they're going to hate you." Calum reassured. I took his words into consideration and realized that at they end of the day, I shouldn't be nervous to see my own family.

The doorbell rang through the thin walls of the vaguely familiar house. Calum was stood about two feet to my right and was fiddling with his hands. I heard footsteps growing louder as my butterflies grew to an all time high. The front door swung open and there stood my sister in her teenage glory. Orla's arms were immediately tight around my waist as mine rested on her shoulders.
"I've missed you." She mumbled into my shoulder. I spoke the same words back to her and pulled her away, introducing Calum to her.
"Orla, this is my friend, Calum and Calum, this is Orla, my sister." I stated. They hugged for a moment before my sister invited us in.
"Mum and Dad will be really happy to see you, Brooke." She dragged us towards the conservatory. "They won't shut up about you coming." Orla revealed with a smile on her face. As soon as I stepped foot outside the house, I was tackled into a hug by my two loving parents.
"I can't believe you're finally here again." My mother murmured, breaking the hug and turning to the lanky boy stood next to me. "You must be Calum. I'm Brooke's mother. This is my husband, Mark." My dad gave Calum a subtle nod and proceeded to the kitchen.
"Yes, Mrs. Evans, It's lovely to meet you." Calum smiled politely.
"Please, stop with the formalities, it makes me feel old. Call me Louise." My mother insisted.
"As you wish." I could sense the awkwardness arising in the atmosphere so I quickly invited Orla and Calum upstairs to the spare room that i would be temporarily staying in.
"So... Brooke mentioned that you're in the band she's travelling with. What music do you play again?" Orla enquired while spinning around on the desk chair.
Calum cleared his throat before speaking. "Yeah, 5 Seconds of Summer is my band and we play sort of soft rock or pop-ish rock. Nobody really knows but since we toured with One Direction and Hot Chelle Rae, a lot of people thinks we're similar to them."
