I tried hitting my alarm button but instead of turning it off, I pressed the option for it to start singing a rather loud lullaby. That's what I get for buying a more expensive alarm with many options, rather than getting a regular one.
It was one in the morning, my night shift started at two. Slowly I moved towards the closet, picking out the first pair of skirts and a blouse I found. This is going to be an extremely long day.
I did all of my morning rituals - making coffee, making another coffee, and guess what? Making a third coffee, before I was up and ready to get to the hospital, thanking the universe that I only had to walk five minutes to the entrance.
"Umm, Karev!" I called Alex seeing as he was the only living, breathing person in the hospital lobby right now. "How are the quadruplets, especially Lucy?" I asked.
"I'm going there now, so I don't know," he answered, I nodded and we both left to the peds side of the hospital.
When we entered the room where all the babies were, I heard them talking about which one was the best of them.
"Kate's the best one." Alex interrupted. All of them looked up to see us, but when they saw Alex all turned around. I could feel all the weird tension building up, especially from Alex and Izzie.
"Izzie." Alex started, taking a step closer to the blonde intern who immediately turned away from him. I made my way towards Meredith, sitting next to her and the baby she took care of. As I was about to ask what was happening, Izzie arrived first and declared everything.
"Leave."
"Can we please just talk?"
"You're too busy screwing nurses to talk, so just get out." Izzie snapped at him, not caring about the other people in the room. My eyes did not seem to hold much surprise, this was Alex we were talking about, he hits on every woman he sees, and he has even tried to get with me a couple of times.
Alex sighed, not wanting to argue with the girl any further. "Can someone make sure that Kate's vitals remain stable?" Meredith nodded to his request and running a hand down his hair, he left the room
"He is unbelievable, I am so glad I never slept with him, which is his loss, because I'm really good in bed, mind-blowingly, mind-blowingly good in bed," Izzie started talking sex which meant it was my time as an attending to leave.e
