I woke up around 9:00. We didn't have work today, so I used my free day to fill out the long form for The Selection. After I filled out the form, I would head down to a post office for a picture to go with my form. I already had a semi-nice suit in my closet I would wear for the picture, but I wasn't ready to get dressed quite yet. I got up out of bed, yawning. I was tired from last night. I went to the kitchen to eat, and to start filling out my form for The Selection. The questions were pretty generic. You know, height, age, eye color, weight, hair color, all that good stuff. There were also knowledge type questions. I had to list which school I went to (hah whoops I was homeschooled). It also asked how many languages I knew. I knew three, English, French and Italian. "Hey Dad!" I shouted while filling out the form. "Can I put under languages that I am fluent in sarcasm?" Dad chuckled. "I don't think sarcasm is an official language, Adam." I sighed. I just needed some comedy relief. The last section was special talents. I listed the instruments I knew how to play, and that I could sing. "Yo Dad," I shouted again. "Give me more special talents that I have." "You can eat a meal in under five minutes, be sure to list that." My dad called back. Mom stormed in, looking ticked off. "Why don't you just list you're a total heathen too!" She shouted, then stormed back out. I looked at Dad quizzically. We both shared the same thought, "What was that about?" "You're mother just wants what's best for you Adam. She is just trying to show she loves you." Dad says sympathetically. I didn't say anything after that. I finished up my form eventually. I checked over it. It looked fine. A small "What if" thought was in my head, but I just pushed it out and went to get dressed. As a five, we didn't exactly have the nicest clothes like I said. I wore a gray suit. It wasn't exactly "royal" material, but hey, it's the best my family could afford. I made myself look nice, but not to the point where it looked like I was actually trying. As Mom and I went to the post office, who would guess it. Dawn's mom comes with Dawn's twin brothers, Peter and Matthew. Dawn's family is lucky (or lucky as everyone else sees it) because they have two entries. Dawn's family walks with us to the post office, chatting about The Selection. I was sick and tired of hearing the word "selection". I tune in to their conversations, out of boredom. "I'm assuming since Adam is in The Selection, he doesn't have that special someone." Dawn's mom said to my mom. "Afraid not." My mom replied. "I am assuming the same with your two, right?" "Yep!" Dawn's replied peppily. Dawn's mom looked around. "But," She said slyly, "I think Dawn has someone in mind." "Ohhhhhh!" My mom gushed. "Who is he?" "I don't know yet," Dawn's mom admitted, "But she seems extremely happier, and she often sings or hums. She has also been writing love poems, I think it's super adorable! Oh, but that's not it either. She seems to be saving up more money. It seems to add up." Dawns mom finished happily. I was stunned. Was Dawn... Saving up for us?!?! That feeling made my heart soar like an eagle in flight. She, wanted us to get married. Was his even real? I didn't have time to process it. We arrived at the post office, and surprisingly there wasn't a long line. I got my picture pretty fast. I must've been smiling like the biggest idiot in that picture. That smile was for Dawn. I couldn't have been more happy.
