Chapter 4
Vonilla
By the scent and tread of footsteps, I opened my eyes as Claritha entered my room. Turning to me, she was surprised I was up.
"You're up early" she stated. After waking up ready to kill from another night terror, I didn't bother to go back to sleep. But I didn't tell her that.
"What's a generation 03?" I asked, I was curious from last night as the little girl flashed in my mind.
Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion as she seemed to think about it.
"You've never encountered one?"
I shook my head as I sat up. Claritha had my full attention. She sat on the bed and turned to me.
"They are the third generation of rippers. Their strength comes from stealth. Nocturnal; can not survive in the sun."
"What happens if they meet daylight?"
Claritha turned to me. "They'll burn"
"Higher generations can tolerate sunlight and heat. But even the tiniest bit of sunlight can burn these rippers"
They operated at night. That would explain why this place buzzed with life 24/7. I could feel it. Rippers who preferred day would be up and then it would switch. Interesting.
"Take your bath and drink your blood. Today you'll try berries." The nurse said.
I nodded and obeyed finding nothing wrong in that command. Bathing had been a relaxing and everyday routine now.
But today, the nurse sat me infront of the dresser and brushed my hair. I looked at her through the mirror to figure out her motive. She noticed my staring.
"What?" She asked as she then put strands of my hair in a rope like structure at the back of my head.
"It's called a braid. Do you like it?"
I touched it and felt how neat it was. My hair didn't get into my face either. "It's..nice"
The nurse beamed at me happily before bringing a bowl to my attention.
It held different colored little shapes. Most were pink or red and a little blue.
Claritha said that they were strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. I did not like raspberries. They tasted weird and Claritha had laughed at me when I stuck out my tongue in disgust.
"Ok let's give you a quick medical" she said and I looked at her with a raised eyebrow.
"Why?"
"Did you forget you were hit by a car?"
"What's wrong with that?"
Claritha looked at me with a concerning look. "Why would you think that's not wrong !?"
I shrugged as I rolled my shoulders. "I'm fine, I can feel it healing"
The nurse didn't look convinced but sighed.
"Ok then, now we meet everyone"
I huffed annoyed. "It'll be fine" but i didnt miss the "I hope" that she muttered
We then left my room and on the way she explained I'd be mostly meeting the teen's since most of the kids of this place were Gen 03's. Rajae met up with us as we were making our way to the fields surrounding the manor. Revlir was certainly impressive.
My eyes widened when i saw the crowd that was there. I immediately felt uneasy. Big crowds of rippers were never safe for me. I clench my fists and readied myself for anything as I observed the crowd trying to sense anything.
