Chapter 13
Rippers
Sunny sat in the dark of her room, the only light sources coming from the many devices and monitor screens set up.
She sat dutifully at her desk as one of the monitors ran through the security footage of the night Vonilla was attacked for about the hundredth time for that night....well, morning.
There had to be something she was missing. There was no way the person or persons were this good.
If they were, then Revlir had a serious problem on their hands.
Sunny's golden eyes scanned that one screen ignoring all the other screens and devices around her.
She was completely focused, body still as her eyes scanned and brain processed. Sunny was one of the smartest rippers along with Kevin in Revlir.
She was so immersed in her work she didn't hear when her door opened. Jedidiah entered Sunny's room and immediately spotted the female ripper.
He sighed before he stepped in, not bothering to be quiet. She was in comfortable clothes, a hoodie and sweatpants.
Jed observed her body language, the way she sat, breaths even and silent. He knew that somewhere at the back of her mind had registered he was there subconsciously and didn't mark him as a threat.
"You should be asleep by now" Jed said as he walked up behind her.
"It's morning already?" Sunny sarcastically asked. She turned around and Jed had his arms folded, looking down at her with a serious expression. Apparently he didn't get the joke.
"Yes Jed, I know it's morning. I'm in class" Sunny finished innocently.
Confusion made its way onto his face. "Another one? And so early?"
Sunny got up and turned one of her laptops to show him the presentation and talking coming from it. "Do not underestimate university 7 o'clock classes."
Jed glared at her.
"Anyways, I managed to get these." she said as she showed another monitor. Jed looked at her not wanting to move off of the subject of her not sleeping. However, as he glanced at the prints on the screen, he realised it was important.
"Are those fingerprints?"
"Ding ding.'' she said as she enhanced it. "I'm gonna run it through Revlir's database and see what I find."
"Did you let Dr. Roberts know?"
"Of course I did. But he said nothing can be done until you guys come back" Sunny said as she moved to a different monitor.
"He still doesn't trust the others with this"
"Which reminds me. There's a meeting. You joining?" Jedidiah said
Sunny nodded as she typed into a monitor.
Jed sighed. "Sunny, do I have to knock you out again for you to sleep?"
Sunny turned to Jedidiah and took a step back watching him wearily. "You know that doesn't really help. It just causes damage to the body"
"It gives your body a break. More than you do" he said, taking a step forward. Sunny hissed warningly. Jed rolled his eyes.
"When you're gone you wont be able to knock me out then" Sunny said. "So it's not like it matters"
"Clara has that covered"
Sunny's mouth dropped open in shock. "You seriously asked your girlfriend to make sure i sleep?"
Jed grew serious. "I didn't have to. We're all worried about you"
