Chapter 10Vonilla
Wake up little ripper
My eyes snapped open at the sound of my door opening and I turned to see Aunty Clary entering the room. I closed my eyes briefly and took a breath.
I'm fine, I'm alright. I'm alive.
With that i sat up but noticed my body was moving sluggishly. Yesterday's events went through my mind and my hands found my neck. My attention was then brought to the nurse. She seemed rushed.
Her clothes were also different. She didn't wear her normal lab coat but instead wore a nice, formal shirt and pants.
A big plate of food was placed in front of me along with a bigger blood bag than normal.
"What's this?" i asked
"A heavy breakfast. It's going to be....a long day" she said as she searched through my clothes. I remembered her telling me about the 'meeting'. She had rested the food at the edge of my bed and I slowly moved towards it. I sniffed it first.
I scrunch my nose. There was nothing wrong with it per say and it looked divine but...
"I can't eat all of this," I said. I'd never had so much food before. The bigger bag of blood was no problem though.
She turned to me as I looked at her blankly. "I'm not going to force you. But we can try" she said and I nodded unsurely.
I hesitantly picked up the bread and went with that first, eating it slowly. I ate a few more items but like I said. I couldn't finish it.
I pushed the plate away from me and grabbed the blood bag. Food and blood were two different things, two different hungers.
Food I could survive without for a while before needing it. But blood? I needed that like I needed air. Blood withdrawals start to appear after ten or eleven hours. But the constant need for blood always lurks. Fortunately, I've managed to suppress it long enough. If not, rippers enter an instinctive state, urging us to hunt. To feast.
Blood and water are necessities for our bodies, working together with food for fuel. Whatever the serum is, whatever gene we have feeds off of it.
It was complex and I didn't really understand. I didn't really care to listen to the doctors sometimes.
You can quench the hunger for food but the thirst for blood lingers.
I drank the bag dry, no problem. My eyes then met the nurse who was observing me.
"I can't be sure if it's your lack of diet or just you."
I shrugged and headed to the bathroom to take a quick bath and clean up before putting on the clothes Aunty Clary had put out. These too were formal clothing. She then sat me in front of my dresser and brushed my hair before making it neat.
When she was finished, she glanced at her watch and gasped.
She looked at me. "Ok, is there anything else you need?"
I shook my head.
"Good" she grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the room.
"Jessica will take care of the things in your room"
We made it outside and saw Dylan and Rajae outside. They were dressed adequately. Dylan wore a normal green shirt but stuffed in normal dress pants with a look of boredom on his face.
Rajae wore a white button up shirt and blue pants.
They both looked when they saw us coming. "Where are the others?" Aunty sounded rushed
