Chapter 5
Rajae
I watched as Vonilla entered her room and closed the door. I shook my head amused. Another ripper has never given me this much trouble before. Not even Carla and she was just a child!
My eyes widened. Carla!
I turned and hurried down the many stairs that led to below Revlir. Down here was where most rippers accumulated. Especially the third generation of rippers. We called it the Underground
It was to avoid the sunlight and to keep cool mostly. It was also where rippers were kept in stasis. Frozen to keep our bodies preserved. Agencies did it to study us lounge or take us out when they needed us. Here at Revlir, you can choose if you want to. The agency never gave you that.
I went to Carla's section, where I told her to go when Vonilla ran off. Making it there, I opened her room to see her playing games with her two other best friends.
Koysa and Jamie.
Jamie had dark skin with neat cornrows at the top of her head.
Koysa looked like she came from the east with long thick hair and brown skin. She covered her skin with long sleeves. Rippers were encouraged to follow whatever religion they wanted or could trace back to their culture. It was a way to make us feel like we belonged.
We are taught to respect those even if we do not follow it.
All three looked up at me, golden eyes out carelessly. I breathed out and waved.
"Hi Rajae!" Koysa said
"Play with us big brother" Carla requested but i politely declined. I could still feel the aches and thought it best to get some sleep.
I started walking back to my room.
Rippers under the age of ten shared big rooms in numbers of four. A nurse would be appointed to care for them specifically. Jamie, Koysa and Carla shared a room with another girl named Darcy.
I opened the door to my room. There I took off my shirt and stood before the mirror. Turning, I could see the big bruise clearing up as my healing factor kicked in. I faced the mirror head on. My chest rising and falling as I breathed, muscles flexed and abdominals in shape.
I breathed out relaxing as I rolled my shoulders.
I hadn't mean to use so much strength. I guess I got excited. I've been around others for a long time, having to not hold back was fun. Each generation had their own specialties but none were as fast as us. It was just nice to let loose a little.
And also to have her back with me again.
I sat on my bed and rubbed a hand through my hair. It was strange and I'd have to get use to her but...Vonilla was different.
She was still quiet and curious but in no way shy. She held a hidden malice about her, a blood thirstiness.
I sighed as I thought about the last few days. She was warming up to us, communicating with others. Slowly but surely. Her body language would be relaxed until she got close to a lab or Dr. Roberts which was understandable.
I exhaled before laying on my bed and letting my body ease into the comfortable mattress.
But what exactly happened to her? And exactly how close is this agency? Did it know where we were?
A sharp ping then resonated though the air and I got my phone from out of my pocket. Looking at the dim screen of my phone I read a message sent in a chat for the A-team or Alpha team.
