"what about if we go on a vacation at the popular Elegushi beach?" Silver suggested to precious who looked rather uninterested about the idea of going on a vacation, as the latter went about packing her clothes into her mini bag.
"I think I should probably go home, you would be with Nuel all the time giving no attention to me!" precious said still uninterested.
"That's not true precious, myself and Nuel will be with you most of the time. besides it's just a month holiday and I know you will be bored going home to spend the short break, just give this holiday a try." Silver begged.
Silver is a friend and roommate to precious, the two had managed to maintain their friendship from their first year at the University till their present level at the University of ibadan (UI) irrespective of the difference in their characters and lifestyle. Silver happens to be more of a clubbing and party type, a fashionista and a goddess to anything called party, One wouldn't take long to notice her extravagant lifestyles which happens to be the direct opposite of precious who is more of an introvert.
Precious happens to be the first daughter and second born in a family of four consisting of two boys and two girls, her parents were both Deacon and Deaconess, little wonder precious was trained up in a way that made her restricted to a lot of things, and silver had constantly reminded precious of how boring her lifestyle was.
"Okay, when are supposed to leave?" precious asked finally after minutes of silent deliberation.
"I don't know, I left Nuel to do the bookings while I do the packing, you know if I don't start the packing before time I might probably forget some important stuffs during the course of the travel." Silver explained.
"Come off it silver, even if given a year to pack you still end up forgetting one or two items, then you start jumping here and there in search of things you never packed." Precious said giggling.
"you Know that's an exaggeration precious, anyways I suggest you get ready as well." Silver said. " I would simply get a few hours nap before packing!" precious said and lazily dropped on the bed to notice silver's photo album on the bed, she wasted no time into going through the album. Flipping through the pages of the album she noticed the album contained more of silver and Nuel's photos.
"How did you know Nuel was the right one?" precious asked suddenly, admiring the picture she was still holding.
" Well I liked him from the first day he approached me as a fresher, and here I am still Loving him till eternity." Silver said with dreamy eyes.
"That sounds more like fairy tale I must confess, you simply got lucky to be loved for who you are and not get cheated on, I must say those gender are born cheaters!" precious said with disgust.
"Coming from a gender who has never considered giving a man a chance, someone who is yet to have her first kiss at 20 years of age. Grow up girlie!" Silver said bursting into laughter.
"That is an unfair thing to say, you Know?" precious said looking hurt
"I didn't mean it to come out that way, but with all sincerity I must say that the only unfair thing here is your mean attitude towards the opposite gender, you have never given a guy the chance to love you and here you are saying the worst about the gender you know nothing about. Come to think of it, heaven never rains down good men, you probably would make mistakes, countless of them before you meet the right person. You just have to be free and open to the process." Silver advised.
"Huh! You mean letting myself get into an emotional blackmail all in the name of finding love, common that is bullshit silver and you know that." Precious said dropping the photo album.
"You might probably end up dying a virgin!" Silver said making funny faces at precious. " yeah, thanks girlie.... Better than ending up thrown into the dirt by a total looser. Besides my parents wants their daughter getting married as a virgin." Precious said rolling her eyes in the process.
"You would definitely be a circus by then!" Silver said in sarcasm.
"Abeg, Make person hear word. Nuel is a nice guy and you simply got lucky.....it certainly doesn't mean all men would be like him." Precious said with a frown.
"I have never disputed the fact, I'm only urging you to give it a try. Sometimes you actually don't say a soup is bitter merely by its looks, sometimes tasting is needed for an accurate judgement." Silver said trying on a pair of heels and deciding if she would need them for the vacation. " you certainly don't need those!" Precious said rolling her eyes again.
"Maybe I do, Nuel loves surprises a lot and for a reminder, my birthday is in some weeks time who knows I might get lucky." Silver said beaming with smiles before adding the heels into her mini-vacation bag. The girls got engrossed in their conversation that they lost total track of time. A knock on the door was what got the girls on their feet with precious scampering away to the bathroom, She had earlier wanted to have her bath before she got engrossed talking to silver.
Precious had quickly ran a quick shower and had dressed up on a pink tank top with a short before she entered to see that Nuel was the person who had knocked earlier.
"Hey dear!" Nuel greeted precious briefly. on the center table was the roses he had gotten for silver his girlfriend. "Oh my goodness! This rose flowers are heavenly." Precious said in admiration. " I don't know you also like rose flowers, my girlfriend loves them a lot and I got them while coming, don't worry I will make it double next time." Nuel promised holding Silver's hands.
"Get yourself your own man so he can get you roses as well!" Silver attacked jokingly.
"Not again silver, must you constantly remind me of a fact that I'm single..... besides it is too late for it." Precious said with a yawn.
"I am actually here to take you girls out." Nuel announced looking at his girlfriend's face for approval. "I mean if you two don't have other plans for the night." He added quietly, it was obvious Nuel happens to be a very quiet guy adding to the fact that he was also a shy person. It was a wonderful thing that he had been able to manage his relationship with silver, owing to the fact that Silver happens to be the direct opposite of the word quiet. Silver is known to be a talkative, added to her anger issues and excessive love for parties.
"That is great babe, it is so boring indoors!" Silver said with high spirits. "Actually it is just a mini- party, and my friends are coming as well probably with their girlfriends." Nuel explained quietly.
"Precious, you are coming aren't you?" Silver asked precious who was at the other room. "you guys should go without me, I will simply make orange juice and go to bed, besides it's late already." Precious said from the kitchen.
"it is just few minutes after seven presh, we should be back before midnight!" Silver urged. "I will be the odd one there, besides your friends doesn't Even know me." Precious said reluctantly. "Hey presh, I got you covered ok.... Mind you, you are my baby sister and my friends would be delighted to have you okay!" Nuel assured quietly.
"And who knows, you might get your lazy ass hooked up!" Silver added with giggles. " not again silver, the whole world mustn't know that your roommate is single.....you are constantly freaking me out with your constant talk of getting myself a partner!" precious said folding her hands in Akimbo.
"Don't mind my girlfriend presh. You two should get dressed it's almost time, the party starts by 8:00pm and it's almost seven thirty..... you girls should get snappily dressed so we can get there on time." Nuel said and tugged at silver who was still sitting beside him, silver reluctantly stood up and went with precious to get dressed up.
"Make it as casual as possible, it is just a mini- party!" Nuel said after the girls.
