Did they just say the test of Truth? What in the world was that? Did I have to be honest with myself, or him? Did he have to be honest? What was this test? I wanted to know more. And I was going to know more. Artemis looked like he knew. Maybe he did know. Why was he so scared? What did I have to do.

"This test of yours, what do I have to do," I asked. Artemis slowly bows his head.

"We have to tell each other our deepest darkest secret, something that could affect the both of us," he said. The island began talking.

"If you two can overcome your deepest desires and darkest secrets together, and prove that you care for each other and your friendships, you will be free to leave."

"So I tell him my deepest desire and darkest secret, he tells me his, and we are free to leave," I asked.

"My child it isn't as simple as that, if you two can overcome them, you are free to leave."

"Okay fine, can we tell each other now, or is there a sacred place we need to go?"

"We can tell each other wherever but my deepest desire will destroy us both, and the island knows that," Artemis said. I shook my head.

"No I'm stronger than that and so are you. We can do this together," I said. He shrugged. I didn't like his negative thinking.

"Okay my deepest desire is to be loved, not just by my friends, but myself, I always blame myself for things gone wrong but I never know why, and I just want to be loved," I said. He looked at me. His eyes in shock and joy.

"But Pheonix, you are loved by so many people, your friends you peers, you should start loving yourself because you are such a great person, I've known you for ever even though you just met me, I've seen that pain and weakness, I know you long for love but, you already have it," Artemis said. I smiled at him.

"Very good Phoenix, and true, as many desires as you have that one was the most heavy on your mind and in your heart, and what Artemis said was true to him as well."

"My deepest secret, I've been wanting to keep this a secret for a while but, I was visited again by that thing, and Hunter was with me then, it said a lot but I think it's been watching me outside of the island for a long time, watching all of us," I said. He was actually in shock.

"He visited you and you didn't tell me, were you hurt, why wouldn't you tell me that," he said. He was hurt. But the island said to overcome them.

"To be honest I was afraid you would worry to much. I didn't want anyone having to constantly look after me, I wanted to be a big girl and take care of myself," I said. He grabs my face.

"I will always take care of you Phoenix , you are one of the most precious things I've ever encountered, I want to know these things, to prevent you from being harmed," he said. I smiled. He puts his hands down. It was his turn. But the island first told me what I said was true and real. I didn't have many secrets except that one.

"And now, Artemis, you must understand one thing, Phoenix isn't like all the others, her heart is pure and rare, you may think she can't look past you deepest desire, but I believe we both know the truth."

"Okay well my deepest secret, when I was a god, I actually conjured your prophecy to find me, I knew you would be a great warrior someday, and I wanted to protect you, and for years I've tried finding ways off this island until I finally stopped and you came to me, so I had been watching you, keeping an eye on the warrior I was to protect," he said. He had been watching me? Ever since I arrived at this island he has been watching me.

"Why didn't you say anything before?"

"I was to scared of your reaction, and then we became friends and I got close to you," he said.

"Very good, now, tell her your desire, she has overcome the secrets, but can she overcome the desire you have."

"Before I do this, Phoenix I want you to know that you are everything to me, I've watched you and listened, you have a true heart, and I just want you happy, and safe," he said. He took a deep breath. I was waiting patiently.

"My deepest desire is," he stopped himself. If he didn't say it the island will never let us go. But he knew that. He knew the island wasn't going to let him go without putting us to a test first. He knew that.

"Arthur, you have to say it, it's okay."

"If you want to get off this island, you must speak the words, and you must do so now."

"Phoenix please don't see our friendship any different than you have before, promise me," he said. I smiled and placed a hand upon his cheek.

"I would never see us differently you mean the world to me."

"Okay, my deepest desire is," he paused, took a breath and then looked down, "YOU."

"I'm sorry, did you say me?"

"Well done Artemis, and it seems you have passed, however, one thing still has to be done before getting off this island, she must overcome this."

"Did you say me?"

"Yes, okay, yes you, you're under my skin, in my head and my heart, you are what I think of when I am not training, even then, it's just, it's you, can you really blame me," he turned to me. I waited for him to finish.

"You're beautiful and kind, you're strong and smart, you know how to be brave and have courage, you're not scared to speak your mind, I have written prophecies for you, you are in my soul, Phoenix, way down deep in my soul, and Hunter, if you choose him, I won't be upset because he does care for you too, and you care for him."

"Wait, so you're saying you care deeply for me?"

"Yes Phoenix yes I do," he said. I smiled. That warmed my heart. That was what I needed. My desires were coming true. I hugged him deeply. And so deep when he returned it, we were more calm. More, close.

"As promised I will open a portal for you, both of you may leave."

In the blink of an eye the portal opened. We looked at each other and he held his hand out. I took it. He guided my way to the portal. As we stepped in I felt a rat of energy I hadn't felt before. It was so strong and powerful. We didn't let go of each other. We had been gone for a good twenty minutes. I thought of Hunter to get us home. Assuming they would all still be together. If Hunter cared for me he'd be worried enough to stay by the portal.

When we stepped all the way through we seen Hunter and Ashton, and the others waiting in the hall, they noticed a portal being opened and they all stood up. We looked at each other and stepped on through. The hall filled with concern and joy. Almost as if we'd been gone for a while. It looked dark outside.

"Phoenix, you are both safe," Ashton said. I nodded. We were still holding hands. We noticed and everyone else did too. We smiled and let go of each other.

"Yes and I really don't want to go back to that island," I said. Arthur agreed.

"So, Landon, since you are mainly a wolf, I assume you want to spend some time with the wolves, hunting and guarding," Lucy asked. She was very affirming.

"I can if it is what you would like," he said. She nods. Hunter steps up.

"I may be the alpha but you are a god, so if you want the alpha position it is yours," he said holding his hand out. He was only doing this for me.

"I appreciate that Hunter, but my duties cannot be put aside, if I take this role, I must always be able to protect the warrior," he said. Hunter looked at me confused.

"She's-"

"A warrior."
