"I know that I've hurt you. I don't know if you'll forgive me, but I just wanted you to know that... I'm sorry. All those horrible things I did, I swear I had no idea what it was really doing to you. I-I-" The girl fell to the floor, crying, and she grabbed the other girls pant leg, "I'm different now I swear... I-I..."
"It's okay. I forgave you a long time ago, you're a little late." The girl said kneeling down, embracing the other, "You're beautiful... time was your best friend I see." The girl said smiling.
The girl continued crying in the others arms and said nothing.
Y/N settled into her room and she was sitting on her new bed. Y/N laid down, deciding if she should look around or unpack, "I'll unpack, I hate that wheelchair..." Y/N grumbled squinting at it from her side of the room.
Y/N opened her backpack. She could feel the vibration of every single chain going through the zipper. She took a deep breath. It was the first time she realized the orphanage smelt different than the hospital. The hospital smells better... like hand sanitizer, and clean... stuff...
Y/N's head lowered once again as she took out her items one by one. Soap. Tooth brush. Clothes. Picture. Hm-? Picture? Y/N's eyes started regaining color and she inspected the photo. It was her and the nurse, when did we take that photo? Y/N thought. Y/N pulled out a small piece of paper, she looked at it, confused, and then opened it. "Y/N, if you don't call me I'll never forgive you-?" Y/N laughed, "Oh Haruko-san..."
Y/N walked over to her dresser and she put her clothes into it. Y/N hadn't worn most of her clothing yet because she mostly wore a gown at the hospital. She was excited to try on a new style of clothing.
Y/N unpacked the rest of her things before sitting down in her wheelchair for a break, "My legs hurt so bad... I won't be able to walk for a little while, shoot... I overdid it...." She said lying her head on the back of the wheelchair. She sat there for a while before pushing her way towards the door. I'm gonna go find one of the head ladies, maybe they'll show me around. Y/N thought opening her room door.
"Ah, L/N, are you ready for dinner?"
"U-Uhm... yes?"
"Great, follow me, or would you like me to push you?" The woman said looking back at Y/N.
Y/N inspected the lady with the towel in her hand and replied, "I can do it myself, thank you." Y/N said nodding her head down.
"Alright." She said walking down the hallway.
Y/N followed.
====================
"Ah, L/N!" The older lady from earlier exclaimed, happily, "Are you ready for dinner?"
Y/N nodded her head.
"Great! Sit, sit." She said gesturing to a chair next to another child.
Y/N situated herself into the chair, she was still sore from unpacking, but she could handle getting into a chair.
"Greeeeeaaaat, I have to sit next to little miss crippled." The girl next to Y/N exclaimed aloud.
Y/N didn't take notice to this as she did not refer to herself as crippled. Y/N looked around to see what the girl was talking about.
The girl next to Y/N pushed her off her chair. Y/N used her arm last second to grab onto the table.
"Cleo! Did you push, Y/N?" The older woman asked the girl sitting next to Y/N.
"No." She said puffing her cheeks and crossing her arms.
"I'm fine, I don't think she pushed me, I just lost my balance. I think I overworked myself unpacking." Y/N said positioning herself forward in her chair.
Everyone in the cafeteria saw Cleo push Y/N, why was she denying it?
"O-Oh alright sweetie, be careful next time."
Y/N nodded.
Y/N smiled a bit. What the heck was this feeling? What did Y/N just do and why did she like it?
Y/N was feeling and experiencing different things, they were scary and exciting but they were so... new to her.
The staff passed out the food and it was good, and Y/N was just happy to be fed. Y/N examined her plate. It had leftover rice and sauce, and she fiddled with her spoon. She was so... full...? Was it okay for her to have so much food in her system? Y/N was always satisfied with what they had at the hospital but- no. She didn't want to be greedy, she didn't want to expect anything. Y/N decided it'd be better if she asked them for less food so that someone else could eat their fair share, because she knew there was a high chance someone didn't get the chance to eat their fill because she stole it from them. She felt so guilty, so... so... evil. She wanted to cry, because she made someone feel like they weren't important enough to get the amount of food they wanted. Y/N was dismissed from the table and she pushed herself to her room.
Why did I eat so much? I'm starting to feel sick my stomach hurts so bad.
"Hey." Cleo said stopping in front of Y/N, "Why did you lie?"
Lie? Y/N thought.
"Lie!" Cleo repeated.
Y/N just sat there.
"Why. Did. You. LIE!" Cleo yelled.
"I don't know what you're-" Y/N was interrupted.
"You said I didn't push you when I did!" Cleo yelled.
She's always so loud... "I don't know why." Y/N replied before rolling off.
====================
Y/N was laying in her bed.
Lie. She thought. I lied? What's a lie, again? She got up from her bed and found a dictionary, she pulled it off the top shelf and went back to her bed.
"L...L...L-i....L-i-e." Y/N whispered, flipping through the pages. "To get into or be in a flat, horizontal position...? That doesn't sound right. Uhm... oh here. A statement that is not true." Y/N's eyes widened. I lied? Is that what that was? If they knew it wasn't true why'd they believe me? So I can say something that's not true if it'll make someone else feel better... like Cleo? I saved her from getting in trouble... because I lied? Lying can save people from feeling the way I do? So if I lied... and said I wanted less food someone else would be happy. It's a win-win situation, right?
Little did, Y/N, know that she would not only lie to others, but to herself. Lying is never a win-win situation, only the lose-lose kind...
