"Once upon a time there was a princess-"

"Princess? You're not a princess."

"-who met an anarchist-"

"I'm not an anarchist; I'm an alchemist."

"-and they fell in love-"

"Love is a strong word."

I turned my head to look at Ed, "will you please stop interrupting me?"

"When you start telling the story right," Ed said. He blew a strand of blonde hair out of his face.

"I'm trying to make it an interesting story. Their 5. They don't care about me and you. They care about princesses and anarchists. I'm not trying to bore them to sleep," I said, crossing my arms.

"Listening to you is enough to bore anyone to sleep, no matter how interesting you try to make the story. You just have that kind of voice. And they do care about us. Right Elliot? Would you rather listen to a story about how me and your mother met or a story about some random princess-"

"The princess please," Elliot said. The smile on Ed's face fell.

I turned back to him and said, "what did I tell you. 5 year olds eat that princess shit up."

"Fine then go ahead and finish," Ed said. He turned to walk out.

"Wait dad!" Elliot yelled, "can you tell me the story please?"

Ed stopped in his tracks and turned back around to look at them. I got up out of the chair beside Elliot's bed and let Ed sit down. "Of course I can. But, in my story I'm the prince and your mother is the arsonist."

I raised an eyebrow and asked, "why?"

"Because you've started many more fires than I have (Y/n)."

I paused for a moment before saying, "no, you're right. Continue."

Ed started telling Elliot the story and I leaned against the wall and listened.
